Fatty Liver Disease Update

Kitty was diagnosed with fatty liver disease on Oct 31st, a little more than a week ago. He was overnight at the vet for one night and we have had him home for a week, doing a tube feeding thru his nose. He has been pretty sluggish all week but seemed to be getting better.

Yesterday he had his first checkup at the vet. The good news is that he gained almost a pound back, he was at 16 lbs before but is typically closer to 19 lbs. But we did notice he looked a bit more jaundiced yesterday. We are still awaiting results but the vet said Kitty was very dehydrated so now in addition to feeding him by the tube 5x a day we also have to give him fluids under his skin. This means we need to insert a needle into the scruff behind his neck and allow an IV bag to drip fluids under his skin which will be absorbed. This does not sound fun and I am a bit worried about poking him with a needle every day for a week, it sounds very painful. We will post another update once we get our vet results.
