Arrival Story:
Santa showed up with my outside gang on Christmas 2001, hence the name. She was such a sweet soul, very modest and demure, but always willing to purr when you showed her love.
She would go back and forth between our property and the adjacent trailer park.
Bio:
Santa always seemed to be a little sickly, without showing any obvious disease. She was spayed right away and had her shots every year, but I always thought she might have been the runt of her litter.
Around December 2006 she started coming around more and more sporadically, after having been there for meals and sun bathing on a daily basis. The last time I saw her was in May 2007.
On October 29, 2008, my co-worker called me at home, and said a new cat had showed up in the morning, very sick, emaciated and possibly pregnant with a swollen belly. I went to check her out, and she looked strangely familiar - until we realized that it was Santa. She was so sick that we hardly had recognized her, but her modest manner was still there. Even though she must have been in a lot of pain, she would purr when petted and held. I took her to the vet the next day, and there was nothing that could be done to help her. She was suffering from either FIP or cancer of her inner organs, and she was in pain. I held her and told her how much I loved her when she was sent to the rainbow bridge.
Sweet Santa - she came home to die, and she knew I would help her.
5/10: our sweet girl has found love! Shelby has her heart in his handsome paws, and they have moved in together. Santa is sooo happy!
