Meal time!!! Play time!!! Cuddle time!!! Nap time!!! Snack time!!!

Austen doesn't want to be ignored when she wants a snack.

Favorite Toy:
Austen loves those little foam wedge cosmetic sponges. We call them her 'babies,' and she carries them around the house and drops them in the water dishes.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Austen enjoyed sleeping on a pillow on the couch when there wasn't a lap available.

Favorite Food:
Austen had severe food allergies so she enjoyed getting different food than the rest of the gang.

Austen loved her Cat Sitter DVD. There was a blue jay in the film that she hated. She would sit on the table and wait for the blue jay to appear, and then she would bang on the TV screen with her front paws and the blue jay would "fly" away.

Arrival Story:
Austen and her brother, TK (Tiny Kitten), were found as abandoned 2 week old kittens near a rural restaurant. A local vet tech nursed them along for 2 weeks, and then I took them in. TK was already very weak and about half the size of Austen, and he didn't survive, poor thing. Piper took over the kitty mom duties, and kept Austen clean and taught her the other normal kitty skills. Tiger took over the kitty dad duties, and taught Austen to hold her own in kitty brawls. Austen was bottle fed for awhile as a baby, and would occasionally suck on human mom's fingers until she was about a year old.

We lost our precious Austen to pancreatic cancer. She was the light of my life, my best kitty friend, and the void, even 6 months later, is huge. I miss her wrapping around my head on the pillow at night, and mussing my hair with her front paws before starting the grooming process. I miss the communication we had with each other, and how she always kept track of my every move. I miss the tricks she used to do, and all the opportunities I had to give her hugs and kisses and tell her how much I love her. It never occurred to me that she would be gone at only 8 years old. I think of her every day, and am thankful that she came into my life.
