Arrival Story: In July of 2008, my friend asked me to help her trap a feral mother cat and her five kittens. The mother cat was spayed and returned to the yard where she lived. The kittens came to my husband's and my house. I tamed one of the kittens right away and she went to a forever home; the four remaining kittens went to live with a more experienced feral handler. She kept them for two months but was unable to socialize them enough for adoption. I took them back into my home. Marmelade showed promise from the beginning. He was curious about me. The rest of the kittens hid, but Marmelade would draw closer and closer as time went on. Often I would sit using my laptop in the room and Marmelade would come and sniff at it. One day, he let me touch his nose. I was so happy! Then as time went on, he came close enough for me to pet him. He made a breakthrough after that and allowed me to touch him all over. A week later, my husband and I decided that Marmelade was tame enough to be allowed to come out into the rest of our house and meet our other cats. After a little bit of hissing, he felt comfortable with them. On October 30, 2008 we decided to officially adopt Marmelade!
Bio: Marmelade is brother to Midge, adopted brother to Pippin, Sebastian and Indiana Jones, and adopted brother to Tigger Angel and Bob Angel.
Lives Remaining: 9 of 9

Catster's Cat of the Day ~ July 18th, 2011
Diary of the Day ~ August 13, 2011
I am getting a new brofur today! He is nine weeks old. Mom and Dad are picking him up from Fat Kitty City (the rescue my mom volunteers for) today at noon.
Here's what we know about him from his foster mom: he is a Tuxedo Manx/DSH mix and was born feral, but he is coming along nicely in his socialization process. He is the leader of his litter; he likes to boss his brothers around! MOL He was the first to use the litter box in his foster mom's home; he taught his brothers how to use it too.
He doesn't have a name yet, maybe you can help? We'd love to hear suggestions.
If you would like to play the Spring game, just copy my diary, change the answers to yours and tag five of your furiends!
Five Things I Like About Spring:
1. Breathing in the fresh air...mom opens the windows!
2. Looking out the back door. There's a screen door, so we all can enjoy looking out!
3. Warmer sun puddles to lay in
4. Bird watching
5. Lounging in the kitchen window
Mom thinks I'm a little jealous of Sebastian. At least I am acting like it. Tonight I sat myself down on the carpet across the room from my pawrents and I refused to come over to them when they called, as I usually do. And, I had a sad look on my face.
Mom thought I was dejected because Dad had been giving lots of attention to Sebastian earlier. Dad came over and got me to come over to the couch so he and Mom could give me lots of love too. They reassured me that there is plenty of love to go around! :)
