Arrival Story:
My mom's coworker was given him by people who found him abandoned in a garage. Some sadist had abused and neglected him. He was around five months old. Mom's coworker offered him to us, and we brought him home to see if he was a good fit with our family. My mom likes Siamese cats, and we had never seen a Snowshoe before. He was so cute and cuddly! Even though he was abused as a kitten, he warmed up to us right away.

Bio:
Velvet's back legs were injured when he was a baby. He was never able to jump high or run fast. We called him "sad eyes" when we first got him because that's exactly how he looked! But soon he became the crazy and loveable boy we remember him as. He lived with two other female cats, Miss Kitty, then Tofu. Unfortunately Velvet loved going outside, which is dangerous since we live in Arizona and our backyard has predators like coyotes and bobcats, and he was at a disadvantage because of his back legs. We lost Miss Kitty to a coyote and were so afraid that Velvet would suffer the same fate. We tried to keep him indoors, but after a while he'd be beside himself; meowing nonstop and practically climbing the walls. He just had an insatiable need to explore. He cheated death for seven years, but on July 4th, 2001 he went outside and never returned. I'd like to think that someone adopted him, but I know better. We still miss him.
