Skills: Sneaking in the Refrigerator, Getting into the bamboo
Arrival Story: A little more than a week ago, my sister sent me a picture of these two little kittens to my cell phone. Of course I called to ask. My brother-in-law was knocking down a burnt shed with his father at his father's house. They chased a cat out of it. They later found the two kittens. The mom never came back. My nephew is giving a home to the orange tabby and the calico needs a home. My sister told me that the kittens would be at my mothers to come see them. Once I saw how small they were, I decided that I would take care of them until they were older. I took them to the vet - the vet thinks the are about 4 weeks old.
Bio: Sammie went to live with my sister and my nephew. I was taking care of her sister Sunshine. I had told them that I would take Sammie to the vet for all of her shots. When the girls went for their last set of shots, Sammie came back to my house and spent the day with my girls. My sister and nephew came to pick up Sammie late that night. They watched her playing with Sunshine and the other girls. Later that week I got a call for them. They asked if Sammie could come to live with me. They were gone for a large part of the day and after seeing Sammie with the other kitties they thought it would be better for her to be with them instead of being alone most of the time. Sammie came back to live with in October.
Have I got a story for you! Before I start my story, I need to give you a little background so you don’t think that I have a bad Meowmy.
First, we live in a duplex. There is no one living in the apartment below us. So Ma is the only one that is one on our side of the building. If you come in from the back of the house you can go down to the basement or you can go up to our apartment on the second floor.
Second, Meowmy typically uses the front door to come and go but after the last snow; she started to use the back door. I can't get outside from the hallway unless someone lets me out. Since Ma is the only one in the place, she would have to let me out.
Now, here is the story. Meowmy was sick over the weekend and on Sunday night she forced herself to get, get dressed and got to the store to get medicine. She came in took the medicine and laid down in the living room until it was time fur her to go to bed. What Ma don't know is that I heard her pull in the driveway and I ran and hide under the microwave cart next to the back door. I heard her but the key in the lock and I got ready. As soon as she opened the door, I ran as fast I could out into the hallway.
I explored the hallway outside the door. It was the first time I was out there. I found the steps and went down. I got to a door and when I got there, a light came on making it easier to see the steps going down. I took off down the steps. There was all this open space. I ran around and ran around and ran around. When I got tired of that I went back up the steps.
On my way up the steps, I banged on the door to outside but nothing happened. So I went up to the 2nd floor. Our door would not open. I started to meow. Nothing happened. I took my paw and banged on the door. Nothing happened. I heard Sunshine whining. I thought that Meowmy was going to come and hear me and let me back in. She didn't come. You see Sunshine has been crying and whining like crazy for the last week. Don't tell anyone but I heard Ma saying that she is not happy cause she is in heat. Like me she is only 5 months old, we don't know what that is. I guess that Ma thought her crying and whining was her not feeling well. I decide that I would try to dig my way under the door and back into the apartment. I got the carpet up and I was shocked! Can you believe it, there was floor under there! Just like in our kitchen. I had to dig more. I was meowing every now and than and I kept digging.
Finally I hear Ma coming. I got soo excited when I heard her. I listened and let out some cries. All I hear was the big loud swishy swirly litter box thingie she uses. I started to bang on the door and cry and dig. I saw the light go out. I was panicking. Was I going to have to stay out here without a soft bed? Without water, food, or treaties. Without Sunshine? I started to dig like crazy and meow as loud as I could.
I could have done a back flip! I saw the light go on!! I heard Ma coming to the door. Oh I was so happy to hear the locks opening and how sweet it was to see my Ma at the door. She bent down and picked me put. She gave hugs and kisses. She also saw that I was digging and picked up the mess I made in the hall.
Ma came and sat on the floor with me. She gave me lots of hugs, kisses and pets. She was checking me out. She looked at all my paws and check out my ears and check out my mouth. I can't imagine why but she did. She also got me some wet food - YUMMIE!!
I was so happy to back home. The only thing was I didn't see Sunshine. Ma could not find Sunshine either. I followed Ma around. We looked all over together. I even ran in front of her a few times -teehee she almost feel. Teach her not to hear me when I sneak out. Ma even took the couch apart looking for her. I saw Ma go out the door into the hall. She came bck up but she didn't have Sunshine. Me and Ma were calling Sunshine and now Ma had a flash light and she was looking under furniture, in closets and in the couch again. Ma went into the hallway again. This time she came in with Sunshine. Sunshine jetted out the door when Ma walked back in with me. She had done the same thing as me - she hid under the microwave cart and make a run for it right before the door closed.
Ma told us both that we need to stay in the apartment. She watched us like a hawk this morning before she left for work and when she came home to make sure that were didn't pull another fast one on her.
