Yesterday was quite a busy one! Mommy packed up all our stuff, and I got quite nervous. I hid in the bedroom. She brought Mia in and stuck her in the bedroom, but Mia didn't mind. Then Scott and Karen came over, and I was scared of them. The last time I saw them was when I went from their house to Mommy's house, so it's been a few months.
Karen put a harness on me, and Mommy held me so that they could put flea medicine on me. Mia got flea medicine too, but she didn't mind as much. Mia's my new older sister, who's at least 8 years old but probably closer to 10 or more. She's a pretty calico, and there's a picture on my page now of her.
When everything was all packed up, Mommy looked for me but couldn't find me. Everyone called for me inside and outside, but still couldn't see me. Finally, Karen happened to check the kitchen cupboards, which were open. My leash was trailing...remind me next time I hide to take that in with me as well!
I scratched Scott pretty badly when they were bringing me out to the truck, but he knew it was because I was scared. There was only one cat carrier, so Mia got that and I sat in my harness. Truffles, our guinea pig, was in her travel cage on the seat. When we got to the new apartment, Scott picked me up and took me in, putting me in Jarek's new room. Karen followed with Mia in the carrier and Truffles in her cage. As she got out of the truck, Truffles' cage bottom came off and down the little one went! She's alright, but it took all of them plus Scott's friend Ole to get ahold of her because she didn't want to come out from under the truck!
Finally everyone was in, and Mommy brought in our food, water, and litter. Karen helped by setting that up, since she couldn't help bring boxes. I immediately used the litter box when it got set up again, and Mia chilled in the big closet. Truffles was happy once her big cage got set up again.
Mommy got everything out in two trips. The new apartment's very nice, and a one-bedroom with a big living room.

Next month, Mommy, human brother Jarek, Mia (the cat who lives outside but is being adopted by us), and myself are moving into a new apartment! Mommy and her boyfriend had issues, so we are getting a new place (previously lived in the boyfriend's house). Everything is getting packed up, and I'm running all over investigating what's going on. Fun times!

I know I haven't written for a while. My page is still being kept by my foster mom, and she had forgotten to update it for a bit until my new mom reminded her. So, here's the updates.
Smokey is doing well in her new home. She now sleeps with her 1-year-old brother in the crib when he's sleeping, and runs around the house after him. She has a scratching post and a feather wand that she absolutely adores, but her favorite toys are still her new mom and dad. She hates when her human brother chases her with his flashing, realistic-sounding fire truck, and is scared stiff of the guinea pig! When Truffles the guinea pig is out being petted, Smokey takes one look and dashes under the bed. If it's in its cage, she'll look at it, but if it makes any sudden moves she shoots away.
She is getting a new older cat sibling. Mia is an absolutely gorgeous calico who has been coming to their porch to be fed. Mia's estimated age is somewhere between 6 and 8 years old, and she's had a hard life (teeth missing), but is sooo loving. Right now, they are getting Mia tested for felv/fiv and clearing up her eye cold, but then she will come inside if all checks out.

I'm feeling a lot more comfortable in my new home now. I'm eating, drinking, and using the box normally, without my new purrents standing guard.
I've also decided to hoard all my new toys into the bedroom. Everything I find from around the house, I collect into that room.
I haven't made up my mind yet on the little thing that makes funny noises at me and waves around. I've sniffed out his room, and sniffed him as well, but then he scares me off. I don't know if he's human or what he is. He doesn't act like the big humans, but they take care of him, so he must be a little one.

I'm eating my cat food now. I just needed to have my new mommy or daddy (preferably both) in the kitchen with me while I was eating. Once they figured that out, I've been eating fine.

via telephone from my new mommy to my foster mommy:
I hid under the bed most of the time, until it was sleep time. Then, I wanted to explore and PLAY and SNUGGLE!!!! I walked back and forth over the bed repeatedly, then climbed under the covers when they were asleep and snuggled. My new mommy rolled over at one point during the night and felt something furry by her leg. She, being sleepy, forgot for a minute that I was in the house, and was very startled. She woke my new daddy up, and he said, "It's the CAT, Erin, go back to sleep." She laughed, then went to sleep again.
I had some chicken last night. I thought at first it might be a trap, so when they put it on the floor for me I circled it, suspicious of it. Then I sat down and ate the pieces. It was yummy, but I'm still keeping my distance from them during the daytime. My new mommy put some fries by the bed this morning for me, then went and sat on the couch to watch. I came out enough so she could see my little eyes, then swiped the fries with my paw. I wasn't taking any chances, so they went under the bed with me to eat.
No cat food for me yet, and no deposits in the litter box. Mommy called Foster Mommy to ask her about that, but it's probably just because I'm a bit stressed from the move and my new surroundings. So Mommy isn't as worried about that now. Besides, Foster Mommy reminded her that I did eat the chicken and fries, just not my cat food.
There's a creature here! It's a guinea pig named Truffles, and it's in a plastic box on the table above my litter box. I stood up on my hind legs and put my front paws on the table to look at it. It was doing something, so I watched it very closely. Each time it twitched, I jumped!

My new mom and dad came and got me, and trapped me in the cat carrier. In the car, my new mom opened the carrier a little and petted me to try to calm me down, because I was holding my whole body rigid.
Once I got to my new home, they opened the carrier right by my new litter box. I explored all over the house, except the little human's room, then hid under the bed. I'll explore later, but right now I know I'm safe under here.

Today I'm going to my new home! I don't really know what that means, but Foster Mommy and Foster Daddy are happy-sad about it, so I guess it's a really good thing. I'll get to bring one toy with me: a wand with a big fleece string on it, and it chirps like a bird when it gets waved around. It's my favorite toy in the whole house, so they said I could take it with me. My new purrents, FM's friend Erin and her boyfriend Brian, are coming to get me after 5:30 pm.

I'm home at my foster home again. I'm still very sleepy, and growly at everyone although I let Rori clean one ear before swatting. My belly's shaved and stitched up nicely, and I have a paper collar on with my name on it. When Foster Mommy came to get us, I was back asleep and the vet tech woke me up to put me in the stroller. When Foster Mommy looked at us before she took us outside to go home, I was trying to go back to sleep again.
When we got home, the first thing I did was growl and swat at Carbon, who was checking up on me. Foster Mommy took me out and held me for a while in her lap, petting me and calming me down.

I got adopted! Skylar's Mommy Erin, who lived with Foster Mommy and Foster Daddy for a while, is adopting me! She and her boyfriend and her 1-year-old little bean boy are going to have me for a few days to see how I do being over at their house. They like me and they want me to be their kitty! I will go to live with them temporarily in a few days, and then live with them permanently after that! Hopefully, everything will go well during my trial period so I can have them as my forever home!

Starla and I are getting spayed tomorrow. Starla's inside with us at the moment, because Foster Mommy wants to keep an eye on her. She wanted to know where she was so that she didn't have to look all over for her this evening in the dark.

I just heard my mommy cat meowing outside when Foster Mommy came upstairs from the laundry room. My mommy cat meowed once, and I meowed back, then she meowed back again. I meowed again, and looked out the door from the dishwasher, but didn't even try to escape. Then Foster Mommy shut the door and I followed, not even going up to the closed door! Foster Mommy's so proud of me!

What are treats? Why is everyone following Foster Mommy around when she said we were going to get them? I followed because the others were, and she pulled out a crunchy bag from a drawer. Tabby "asked" the bag so she could have whatever it was in there, and Rori talked to it. Must be something good. But then Foster Mommy poured out these things that looked kind of like our food but smelled different. I didn't know what they were, so I ran and hid. I watched the others gobble them down, and Foster Mommy brought one over to me, but I sniffed it and walked away.
P.S. I'm not in heat anymore, so I'm doing fine being out with the others again. Rori and I are playing normally, chase and all my favorite games.

I went to Foster Mommy's Norwegian class with her today. My first bus trip, a new place, and lots of new people. I even got to walk on a piano! You can read all about it here. That's a link to our blog.
Also, Foster Mommy made appointments for Starla and me to be spayed on March 4th.

Rori has told me very bluntly that I'm not supposed to scream or yowl. She decided enough was enough, and "mated" with me multiple times to dominate me. It worked, but now we are going to be separated when the humans aren't there, until I get in to be spayed. Carbon also decided to do the same thing, and he's waaaaaay bigger than me! He's fixed, so no worries about me other than being squished.
Foster Mommy got approval from the Tom and Mom/POPPA people, and will call the vet to make appointments for myself, Starla, and the big black stray tom. All three of us will be fixed sometime between Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

Screamy-screamy-screamy-screamy
back feet going, wanting tummy-rubs all the time
Sound familiar? Yep, I'm in heat. Foster Mommy and Foster Daddy are putting me in the bedroom when they want to open the door and letting me out after they're done, because they don't want to have me escape again.
They're looking for places to get me fixed. The vet suggested a few low-cost places. Some we don't qualify for, but some we're checking out.

I escaped for about an hour tonight! I ran around to all my favorite spots outside, played with my cousin Starla, and eluded Foster Mommy and Foster Daddy. Then, when I was tired, I saw Foster Daddy going to check on the laundry downstairs, and ran towards him. He scooped me up and brought me inside again. Foster Mommy washed the mud off my paws and I screamed at her, but I'm actually glad to be back inside.

I'm in major trouble! I ran out the door when Foster Daddy came in with the laundry. He had to chase me around the yard! Finally, when he caught me, I scratched him in the stomach so hard that he bled! He held my paw so I couldn't scratch and I screamed, lashing out with my other paws (but not connecting anymore). He didn't let go until we were inside again.
Now I'm in the bedroom crying because I want out. They let me be in the bigger part of the house right after I was brought back in, but I was hopping up on the sink window ledge to look out the window and crying, so now I'm in the bedroom. Foster Daddy says I'm being a royal pain in the butt right now, and Foster Mommy agrees. I just want outside to play!

I've decided that Rori is a friend again. I'm getting along with her now, and playing swat and chase with everyone again. Foster Mommy says it's not a nice game, but I play it anyway because that's how I know to play with others.
I WANT OUT!!! It's been snowing outside yesterday and today, and I want out to play in it! I'm waiting at the door every time my people put shoes on, just waiting for my chance to dash outside to play. I haven't gotten the chance yet, but not for lack of trying. If only one of the humans is going outside, they hand me to the other one to prevent an escape. Not fair!
I've found a new toy. I was playing with the oversized jingle bells on the doorknob, and one jumped onto the floor! It's the size of the small balls I like, so I tried it out as a toy. It's super-fun!

Foster Mommy and Foster Daddy took Rori to the vet, and brought back another kitty! She looks the same as Rori, acts the same as Rori, but she doesn't smell the same!
I cry for Rori constantly, and the new cat answers from behind the bedroom door. Mommy picked me up and carried me in to see that cat, and I turned all growly, swatty, hissy, scratchy, and bitey when I saw the cat! Mommy says it's Rori, but I don't believe her.
My bad behavior is extending to my interactions with the rest of the kitty family as well. I'm going after Tabby and Carbon, swatting and screaming at them. I miss my playmate!

My foster mommy and daddy (from the green house) have been keeping me inside for a few days now. I like it inside, but at least once a day I escape out the door. I usually only run back around to the food bowl outside, then they open the door and scoop me up again.
It's fun being an inside kitty. I really don't mind it at all. Rori and I play a lot of fun games: chase, tag, pounce, wrestle. Tabby and Carbon also will play with me. I've tried getting Skylar to play, but he only watches.
Last night, I found the stash of toys under the couch. Fun times! There are balls of all kinds, things to chew on, and a big cardboard box with holes in it. Foster mommy puts some of the toys in that sometimes, then we get to try to take them out again. Most of them are pretty easy to get out.
Another fun toy is the litter that's kicked out of the litter box. It's on the floor in the bathroom, and I pick it up in my paws and scatter it all over the floor, then roll in it. Foster mommy says no, but I think it's a lot of fun!

I wrote a blog about skills I think I need for getting a forever home. Some of them I have, but some I am working on acquiring. It's a tough job getting ready to be adopted! Now I just need to find the right humans to try them out on!

Whoops! The humans in the green house made a big mistake! They thought the white kitty was our mommy! They just talked with our real people (the neighbors two houses down) and found out they were all wrong in their thinking!
So, here's the real story:
Boo-Boo Kitty is really the black female they were calling Tom/Toni. She is the mom of me, Little Bit, and Baby Chiba.
The white kitty is the daughter of Boo-Boo Kitty's sister. Her mom and Boo-Boo Kitty were found in an apartment complex where those people used to live, and she was born after they found my mom.
So the white kitty (now renamed Starla) is our cousin.
I'm now being fostered by the humans in the green house.

I was playing with the lady's hair while lying on her lap. It's a fun toy, and I wanted to run off with it to play by myself. So I took a big bite and jumped down...whoops! Big mistake! I got caught on the floor on my hind legs with the hunk of hair in my mouth, still attached, and me stretched full-length up toward the lady's head!
She laughed and told me that hair stays attached to her head. How was I to know that toy didn't come off? She found me another toy to play with, though: a wand with a wad of feathers at the end. It wasn't as much fun as the hair, but I dragged it all over the house.
Purrs of learning new things,
Smokey.

I'm inside right now, trying to play with everyone. They think I'm being swatty, but I really just want to play and am trying to figure out how to play with them.
But.........
I really needed to poop, but I am inside. So I was a good little girl and remembered where I'd seen the inside kitties do their business. I went into the bathroom and hopped into the box. I pooped, then tried to cover it up by scratching once. It didn't cover all the way, but I tried. Then I jumped out and went over to the lady to make sure I did everything correctly. She petted me and said I was a good girl, so I guess that means I was right!
Now back to playing with a wadded-up receipt!
Happy Mokey.

All I wanted for Christmas was to be inside for one whole night. And, guess what?! My wish was granted! On Christmas Eve, the people in the green house heard me jumping at their back door, and brought me inside! The lady looked out the door's window and saw my little face as I jumped up on my hind legs, looking back in at her.
I snuggled up on the bed with her after investigating everywhere, and was on my very best behavior. I was a very good girl, and didn't swat or screech at anyone, for the first time ever since I've been allowed in there!
When I woke up, I heard the man open the door, and realized I needed to pee. So, I went back outside.
Merry Christmas!

The lady who's been feeding us talked with our "real" people today. They agreed to start taking care of us again! It will take us some adjusting to learn to go over to their house again to eat, but we'll learn. The lady who's been feeding us will continue to put food out when the feral cats come around, but not specifically for us. The people even volunteered to buy a bag of cat food in payment for us mooching off them! Baby Chiba and myself are now adoptable. You can send a p-mail and it will get forwarded to our people. The lady's going to help them find new homes for us two kittens.

Today Baby Chiba and I went inside the green house. I've always liked running in fast, seeing who and what was around, then yelling and running back out. Baby Chiba's been in once or twice exploring throughout the house, as have Mommy Chiba and Fluffy Girl.
Baby Chiba and I came in, went out, came in again, then stood in the doorway purring. The lady picked us up, put us down inside, then shut the door. The cat around our size (Rori) came over and touched noses with us, and the big black one (Carbon) was very interested in watching us (even jumped onto the dishwasher to look down at us). The lady put one of the food bowls over by us, and we ate a bit. Well, I waited a little bit, but sister gulped down a quarter of the saucer of kibble! Then I took my turn. Hey, a guy's got to have some respect!
Then, I saw something else that smelled like food, but it was in the middle of the living room floor. Turns out, it was a tv dinner tray, with some leftover gravy in it. Yum! It was delicious!
While I was eating that, the lady opened a drawer and got this funny looking stick out. It made a sound, and had some fabric attached. I didn't know what to do with it when it came towards me, so I stepped back a little and sat down. I looked up at the lady, then back at the fabric. What was I supposed to do with it? She was obviously offering it to me for some reason, but I couldn't figure it out! Suddenly, as she was slowly dragging it in front of my paws, my instincts took over, and I POUNCED!!! Just a little at first, then played with the fleece in my paws, biting and pawing at it. Hey, this is fun! I went exploring a little, then saw the black cat playing, so I watched how he was batting it around. The lady offered it to me again, and I pawed at it some more. She tried to get my sister to play with it too, but Baby Chiba was more scared of it than I was and didn't do anything but watch it.
After a few more minutes, the lady let us back outside. That fleece and stick was fun to hunt!
