Arrival Story:
We wanted a couple of kitties and there was an ad for kittens at a shelter in Newark, NJ. So we drove 2 hours into the city. Edi had been found in the ghetto and behaved like she was abused (very fearful). She has a high-pitched, squeaky miaow, and is extremely small for her age.

Bio:
Edi had been adopted with another kitty we named Klytus. Poor Klytus had just had his eyes surgically opened by the pound, only to find that due to a birth defect they were set in the back of his head, so it looked like he was looking at you from out of a hood. So, his eyes worked, but had no peripheral vision. And he had the most wonderful personality, friendly, open, playful... he chose us. Edi and Klytus played often and became friends, but sadly we found out a month later that Klytus had and was probably born with Feline Leukemia and FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitous). We did our best at medicating and pampering him, but he lived only to be about 8 months old. After exposure to Klytus, Edi did test positive for the presence of the FeLV virus. Fortunately though, after some medication and TLC she totally fought it off. After a few months she no longer had any presence of the disease and to this day is extremely healthy. But, she never socialized with the other cats of the household the way she did with Klytus. (sadly we only have 1 photo of Klytus and it's not digital) Also, due to what we suspect was abuse in her former "life", Edi was extremely fearful of people... expecially loud ones. For the first 2 years all she did was hiss and hide around us. Now however she is incredibly sweet and loyal.
