Arrival Story:
My husband (then boyfriend) and I were moving into an apartment in Kansas City. We enter the hallway and hear this loud yowling. There's this tiny, but obviously well-kept calico kitten sitting on the stairs. I went to pick her up and she scratched me so I dropped her. She then got this look like, "Ooops I didn't mean it." and started yowling again. So, I grabbed her and we kept her for the night. The next day we went through the entire complex but no one claimed her. So, we paid the pet fees and took her in.

Grace lived for 2 years with my aunt in NJ while we finished college. During that time she grew to be very energetic, bossy, and loving. Then once she rejoined us, Grace lived in NJ and PA, until late 2003 when the whole family moved cross country to NM. Grace got to travel for 4 days by car across the US, with the other 3 kitties of the household. Of the other 3, Charlie is her best buddy. In April 2006 Grace was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This surprised the vet greatly as Grace is a hefty girl unlike most skinny hyperthyroid kitties.

So I was sleeping the other day -I had just stuffed myself and then went to lick the others' bowls- when the female food-provider brought out the evil, plastic vet taxi. I had seen way too much of that accursed contraption this year and each time I was poked and prodded and stuck. Once they even shaved me and took something out of my throat.

I was thinking about getting up to run away -but it was sooooooooooo nice sleeping on the couch- when the female went and grabbed Charlie. I was so amused I even lifted my head up to watch!

That young upstart has been parading around here as the alpha just because he's a boy. But not this day. No he went from being the pampered king to hissing like a spoiled little girl.

He had the female run all over the house and then he made a terrible miscaculation... he bit her. No one has ever bitten the food provider before. It just isn't done. I was so surprised I actually got off the couch and stood up to watch.

Soon the female had used some other mechanical device to call the male provider home. The male provider was fuming over the whole ridiculous situation. Somehow he managed to get Charlie into the box... I didn't see because I was downstairs thinking of going back to sleep.

Well, Charlie's been back home, but he's not the pampered king anymore. The providers are still angry with him. So I easily became elevated to Queen!!!

I feel so special! Now I feel well within my rights to sleep at the providers' feet in the bedroom or next to the providers on the couch. I can sleep anywhere I damn well please because I AM THE QUEEN!!!

It only goes to show, youth and inexperience can bring down a throne. -And I am the benefactor!!!
