The daffodils are flowering. They always remind me of you Fatty.

Four years may have gone, but I still think of Fatty.

Fatty was a unique cat who acted more like a loyal dog. He was a one person cat who didn't like lots of people around, but he followed me everywhere. He fretted when I was away, and he always waited for me inside the door when I returned home from work.

Fatty used to wake me in the mornings by tapping his paw on my nose! He was very assertive and directly communicated his demands by meowing or headbutting, unlike Keiser who expected me to read her mind.

Fatty loved fish and seafood. He was a real fish cat. Every now and again I gave him prawns (shrimps) as a treat.

Fatty loved going outside and was let out every morning (supervised) while he checked all the smells and re-marked his territory. He even rolled in the dirt like a dog! Then he would have to be brushed.

I will never forget Fatty. I have even called Kane, Fatty a few times. Fatty came to me when I called him, like Kane does now, even using the same hand signals.

Three years on, and your sister has now joined you at the rainbow bridge. I will never forget you and the joy that you brought me.

You have been gone two years but every day I still think of you and see your photos.

I really miss
- hearing your heavy paw-steps on the wooden floor
- you going through the cat flap using your paws first to ensure it opens
- you intentionally jingling the bell on your collar to announce your presence
- you scratching at any closed doors inside the house to ensure you were not shut out
- you meowing loudly to insist on going outside (supervised) and then inspecting your territory
- you pawing at my nose in the morning to wake me
- you headbutting me to gain my attention
- you grabbing prawns (shrimps) out of my hand, making it known that they were your favourite
- carrying you around in my arms as we walked around
- you listening to me when I talk to you
- you coming to me when I call you, with that fast walk/run and staying by my side
- you already being in bed, waiting for me on my spot when it is time for sleep
- you greeting me at the door when I come home
- you going under the covers all stretched out with your belly and paws touching me
- you growling at me when I bring you back inside carried in my arms
- cooking your favourite dinner of fresh tuna
- the sound of your bell clinking against your ceramic food bowl
- watching you drink water from your water bowl with your front paws submerged in the bowl
- you sitting on the bath mat while I have a shower and talking to me
- brushing your fur with two brushes and watching your enjoyment
- watching you listening with much pleasure to Puccini's La Boheme
- your loyalty and devotion

Thank you for the years we had together.

Your departure may have broken my heart, but you are still there, always and forever.

Fate stepped in when I chose you way back when
I found you, for love and for a friend
You gave me shelter, food and a bed
Where for the past happy years I've rested my head

Our friendship was one of love, loyalty and respect
Neither of us taking for granted the bond that we shared
Companions we are and always will remain

Now we are separated by death or even old age
The memories of our togetherness which we both shared
Will spring to your mind when you remember I am no longer here

So live your life afresh
And let me rest in peace and please remember this
I cherished our time and all that you did
