It was 2 years ago when I decided to go back to my feral life as a free outdoor kitty and snuck out a door. I know mom was sad and searched for me for a very long time, but really I've been just fine. There have been several sightings of me by our neighbors over the past couple of years, but I was careful not to let mom see me because I knew she'd go nuts trying to recapture me. I watched over her from afar.
This evening though I decided to let her see me and show her that I am healthy and well. I saw her car leave, so I went and sat in her driveway until she returned. When she saw me, she stopped abruptly in the street and got out calling my name. I walked a few steps towards her meowingly explaining to her that I wasn't going to stay, I just wanted to say 'hello.'
Mom looked shocked and yet so happy at the same time. Then she started slowly getting closer and closer to me, and that's when I knew it was time to say goodbye. I darted off, and though she tried to follow me, I eluded her and disappeared.
I love you mom, and I really am doing just fine on my own!

Purrs, I can imagine how hard that is. Many purrs to you all.
Thank you, Mr D. (hugs) I was totally attached to Spunky and when he left (adopted) I really saw no reason to live indoors anymore. Although I know on one hand mom is crying all over again because I left and she doesn't understand, on the other hand she is releived to see that I am healthy and doing well. I know she now hopes that I will visit her more often and I know she'll be there if I ever need her.
Love to you and your family, Mr. D
Glad that you are doing ok out there. Sending your momma some big hugs - that had to be tough. Visit her a little bit more, ok?
Purrs thanks you too.

OMC!!! Krikit!!!..your Meowmy loves you sooo much!!..some kibbies just have to be free..and this is sad..but thankful she is still around and allowed you to finally see her..and I guess live trapping isn't gling to work...thank you for sharing this
This must have been so hard for your mom to see you. On the one hand she knows you are still alive and well but at the same time would love to have you back at home. Mom fed and cared for a neighborhood cat that was all black just like you. He got into cats fights a few time with trips to the vet. He was never feral but liked being outside. Mom let him out one night only to never see him again. She till misses him and hopes he is okay somewhere. Maybe one day when you are ready you will go back to your mom. Until then we send our purrs and prayers that you stay safe and happy!
Hugs and purrs,
Simon & Reuben(an angel)
