Spunky, wet food treats, and playing
people trying to pick her up or paying her too much attention - she doesn't like the camera being pointed at her
her little black mousie and anything she can bat and chase around on the floor
Favorite Nap Spot:
under my bed or in her round bed in the spare bedroom
not picky but loves most any wet food
Krikit showed up outside my house one night and at first I thought she might have had a home. She appeared to be a bit feral but she looked of proper weight and her fur was clean . She looked pretty young and I guessed her to be a teenage kitten. I put out some food for her and she gobbled it down like she was half starved and then scampered off. Every evening I would give her a big plate full of food, half wet cat food and half dry and she would eat and then disappear until the next evening. This went on for sometime until finally I discovered that she was mostly living in the big grassy bush next to my mailbox. I decided the best thing for her would be TNR. (Trap/Neuter/Release) She could live around my home and I would feed and care for her, but she needed to be spayed. Our group does TNR so I waited until the next feral clinic, I trapped her, she got spayed, was vaccinated and tested for fiv/leuk. The plan was then to keep her in my back bathroom for a week to make sure the surgery went well, then release her back outside. She became very sick with an URI and it took over one month and three different rounds of different antibiotics before she was well again. By then it was winter and was freezing outside, I did not have the heart to release her back out in the cold weather. She upgraded to living in my spare bedroom. One by one she met my kitties and she immediately fell in love with my foster kitty Spunky. She loves all the cats and there was never any hissy/spitty at all between them. Spring time came and she still would have nothing to do with me, I still had not been able to pet her. She always sadly stared out the window like she wanted out so when the nights had returned to staying warm again, I removed the screen from her bedroom window and opened the window. I told her it was up to her. She jumped out the window and scampered off like a freed hostage. A short time later, with tears in my eyes wondering if I did the right thing, I went to close the window and there was Krikit! She was curled up in her bed, which was on the bed in the spare bedroom, giving herself a nice bath. She came back! Lol! She has not wanted to go outside anymore.
I can now pet on Krikit when she decides it's ok. She even lets me use the furminator on her at times. She is so cute and very playful but still extremely shy. I have a very good foster home waiting for Krikit that works with unsocialized cats and finds them good homes. They need proof that she was fiv/leuk tested first, and being that she went through TNR there is no paperwork. A vet tech and two of us have tried to catch Krikit so we can test her again and have the proof. So far Krikit has won. Our plan now is to try and get her locked in a bathroom so she'll be easier to catch. To this date .... there still is no Krikit corralled in my bathroom! Lol! She may have decided that this is her forever home. :)............................ Krikit went missing on Feb 6th of 2011. :( She was spotted once playing in a near by field and has not been seen again.

It was 2 years ago when I decided to go back to my feral life as a free outdoor kitty and snuck out a door. I know mom was sad and searched for me for a very long time, but really I've been just fine. There have been several sightings of me by our neighbors over the past couple of years, but I was careful not to let mom see me because I knew she'd go nuts trying to recapture me. I watched over her from afar.
This evening though I decided to let her see me and show her that I am healthy and well. I saw her car leave, so I went and sat in her driveway until she returned. When she saw me, she stopped abruptly in the street and got out calling my name. I walked a few steps towards her meowingly explaining to her that I wasn't going to stay, I just wanted to say 'hello.'
Mom looked shocked and yet so happy at the same time. Then she started slowly getting closer and closer to me, and that's when I knew it was time to say goodbye. I darted off, and though she tried to follow me, I eluded her and disappeared.
I love you mom, and I really am doing just fine on my own!

When I first was brought in this new territory, I was placed in an enclosed area in the back. I was told that it was called a rest-room. That was fine with me because I really needed some rest after the scary humans did something they referred to as ‘surgery’ on me.
I recognized something right away. It was my special house that I was given to sleep in when I lived in the outdoor territory. I crawled in it and slept for a long time. I was so tired and felt safe in my special house.
When I felt a bit better and when it was quiet I would come out and explore the rest-room. I found pretty dishes with fresh food and water in them. *purrs* I also found a soft round bed with a pretty, soft blanket in it up where I could look out the window. *purrs* Every evening the lady would bring me a plate with yummy wet food on it. *licks lips while purring*
I didn’t feel too well for quite a while. The lady started feeling guilty that I had to be in this rest-room alone for so long. Every night she would bring me a new toy. Round toys, bouncy toys, toys that made noises, toys that hung from a string, mousies of all kinds, etc. I never made a noise until I heard that all was quiet and the light coming from underneath the door disappeared. Then I would play up a storm with my new toys. I would have so much fun and I would bounce the toys off of the walls and make sounds of joy, high pitched trills. Only to the lady they sounded just like a cricket and I would hear her giggling that a cricket must be in the bathroom.
I still just make these ’cricket sounds.’ I’m keeping the lady guessing weather or not I can actually say ’meow.’ *sheepishly grins*
That’s how the humans came to call me Krikit.
Purrs & Trills,
*Thanks to all my new friends for their warm welcomes to Catsterland! And to Bobbi Boi and Anna for my gifts. *hugs* I have a ‘power of the paw’ to chase the ‘pretty butterfly’ with! Mol! Don’t worry Anna, the butterfly is safe with me.*
