Arrival Story:
Honey turned up in my yard in October, 2007. She was very small and scared. She soon calmed down and began eating regularly. With the help of local cat rescue groups, I was able to get her shots and have her spayed. Originally, I planned to release her, but she didn't want to go. She was afraid of my cats, but more afraid of the outdoors. I kept her separate from the other cats at first , but now she has the run of the house. Unfortunately, she usually runs from the other cats, even though they mean her no harm. I brought her to several adoption events, hence the picture in a cage. Since she growls at people who get near her, she wasn't adopted. I ignore her growls, and she purrs when I pet her. She growls because of fear, not anger. She only weighed seven pounds a year ago, but now her weight has shot up to eleven pounds. She loves to play with balls, etc., but runs and hides when the other cats come to join in. So, she gets little exercise. I hate to see her so scared and alone, but she gets to sit in my lap and purr whenever she overcomes her fear enough to come out of hiding. FOUR YEARS LATER: Honey still is not the happiest kitty all the time, but she has adjusted. She gets along with the other cats, especially James, and plays a bit. Her weight is under control. She is no longer, the 'new guy', and lords it over the latest addition to the family, Blackjack. She still gets scared and agressive for no apparent reason, but quickly snaps out of it. She has a home here forever.
