What's up with mom?

Mom has been home a lot. Not that I am complaining. She makes herself useful, opening doors, etc.

However, she is not filling food bowl everytime I ask. That makes me upset, and I nip her bare feet. I have also ran under her feet, one time she stepped on my paw, so I don't do that anymore.

Her one paw that she pets me with has been hurt. She came home one day with a big bundle of stuff around it that smelled like the VET. She was sleeping a lot, too.
So, Zoey and I tried to chew that icky stuff off her. We also tried to wash the yucky smelly stuff off her skin, too. It tasted terrible, but we just could not leave her like that..

Well, she has not really been able to pet us like we are used to. Her other paw just does not do the job alone. She has a thing that makes a big ripping noise on it now sometimes. We like to chew on it, and rub our faces all over it, She is ours!!!!

She puts a blanket thingey on it that gets hot sometimes. Too hot for us, but it is nice for a bit. I cannot sleep with her, and she moves around and has to have her paw on a pillow sometimes. Dad was locking us out-and mom needing us----come on!!

She is trying to type a little bit today, and I am laying right next to her on the desk. She calls me her "internet kitty".
Dad says I shed into the black "keyboard". He must mean the thing that mom clicks instead of petting me. sigh

A cat called Lion

Well, a new cat came to stay with us. He is named Lion. He is
very big, but timid and scared.

Mom said he was lost, hungry and needed our help. She had him in the garage, where she usually parks her car.

Poor guy, he did not seem to want to eat drink or go potty. Mom
put him in the crate one day, and he came back smelling like the VET.

I really felt bad for him. He is really nice, and Spike and Zoey are
very mean to him. They hiss at him, and block off access to mom and the food bowls.
I would lay with him, and hang out. He was scared of me at first too, but he knows I just want to help out.
Mom says I could help her "Foster" cats, as I am so mellow and sweet.

Lions was finally able to eat. Mom tempted him with all kinds of yummy deliciousness. He finally went potty, too. He needed
privacy in the garage. Mom told me to get out of his box, please.
(alright, alright-yes mom)

Mom is very sad now and worried, as Lion somehow got out of the
garage, and ran away while she and dad were gone all night.

We cannot stay out all night, that is for sure. I dont know where they went.
Mom keeps asking me where Lion is. She says she put one of my spare collars on him, and that someone will call us if they find him.
Dad said it was "identity theft?" as the collar said my name.
I dont care about the old collar. I miss the old guy, though.

Mom seems to know all the other cats, and they want her to pet them.

She gets teased about being a "crazee cat lady".

I love my mom, she tells me every day she is so lucky to have her
kitties to love.

Holiday Decorations

Well, the "tree" is back up in the TV room. It came in pieces in a huge box. We like to scent the box by scratching on it, and rubbing our faces on it.
It has long strings on it, with things that look the light Dad plays with for me to chase. I try to "pick" one, and can't. Everyone tells me "NO". I love the objects dangling off the tree. Mom will pick them up and put them back, no problem.

I have really been good. We have not tried to climb the tree like last year. Everyday, we used to knock it down. Mom said, it was because of all the "birds" in the tree. She did take them off (dang!)
and it was less tempting for us after that.

Zoey prefers the little boxes with lights inside, and other little things that we can knock off the bookcase and carry around-
I will let her tell you about that.

I just like to lay under the tree. Mom says we are the best presents she has ever received.

Great Grandma's visit

Well, Great Grandma came to visit for a couple of days. She brought a DOG. We know her from other visits, Bali.
Bali is bigger than us, but-THIS IS OUR HOUSE, and she knows it.
I really want to get along more than my sisters. Treya is here, too.
She has been having a cow, walking around all puffed up, growling. She has attacked Bali when she got too close, or was looking at her too much.
Bali tries to play, and I get defensive. I dont like her rushing up to me, and play bowing. It makes me want to scratch her face.
I also don't care for her pawing at me. I will box her ears!!!

Zoey has been horrible. She hides in the "cat cubes" Auntie sent with Treya. She also loves to launch herself out of the carpetted
"cat tunnel" growling, hissing scratching.
Mom was saying she was a live round??
Zoey also would "guard" walkways and doorways, so poor Bali
would have to walk past her, and get her clawing and hissing
for no reason.
We also had a "chiahuahua" dog visit named Spanky. Spanky is about the same size as Spikey. So, he was insignificant. I
had had enough of all this dog stuff and hid under Mom and Dad's bed for most of the afternoon.

Now, all dogs and other people gone. The room Great Grandma stays in is off limits to us cats. Mom says some of the family is "allergic" to us, so that it is a "no kitty zone". We love, love love getting in there!!!!!

We cuddled all night with Mom, who is all alone with us. We like that, a lot. Mom was is feeling well, so we staying close by.

It is so nice to have a bit of peace in the house. Mom felt bad for Bali, and was petting her a lot and taking her out front. We
did not care for all that, really. So, we kinda gave her the cold shoulder at times, Zoey especially. She is OUR mom, you know.
She told me I was a good boy, and says that if Bali and I spent more time together, we would become good friends. huh? ok.
She says I have a big heart, and that I am her sweet boy.

A day in the life of Uno

Well, first of all, wake up Mom.
She has been home a lot lately, and I love it. But, she sleeps later than she used to.
So, around 4:00 am-Mom says I am accurate to less than 10 minutes, give or take--I start the process.
I lick her fingers and toes, meowing. If that does not work, I raise my voice, and start biting-not too hard, I say!!
If she still is laying down, then I start jumping up on her big boxy things and knocking over all the stuff on top that will make noise.
The clear things are the best, they make a tinkling sound.
If there is liquid in anything, all the better!!!
Ok, Mom up. She always takes care of us first-After she uses the "water room". We used to get upset about the closet with water coming down like rain she likes to stand in-people are so strange!! I used to claw on the door, I could see her inside. She seems ok when she gets out, so I don't do that any more unless she takes too long.
She gives us clean water, dry food and clean litter. She likes to sing or hum for us.
When it is light out, she will usually let us out in the backyard.
We are not allowed in the front yard. Too many cars (very scary huge loud fast roaring things), people and strange dogs, Mom says.
Speaking of dogs, there is a big one that lives behind our backyard.
There is a big crack in the fence, so we can keep an eye on him.
He likes to bark at us when we stick our paws through.
He gets yelled at sometimes, and that is funny to us.
Mom tells us no, and told the dog's mom why he was barking, so that they would not think it was the boy teasing him. I sniff noses with him too. He is probably bored, like we are sometimes.
If Mom is home, we are outside most of the day. Spike and I can open the door that has stuff with little holes in it, to get in or out-Zoey can't, or won't, I guess. She likes to have us obey her.
There are strange men working on the neighbor's roof, loud noises and voices. We have been staying in a lot. I don't approve at all.
I need to come in and see Mom a lot. Zoey too, but not as much.
There is a big, huge waterbowl behind a high gate that we cannot really climb. The humans go in it, and like splashing water.
I don't understand why. But, I stay nearby, in case they need me.
There are lots of buzzing, flying ,crawling tiny creatures, bugs-we know what that word means. Tasty, but sometimes painful to eat.
Lots of birds, too. We love watching them. They make noises at us, they sound mad sometimes.
Best of all, other cats!! They don't come in the house, and they are scared of the humans. They eat here in the backyard, and they have names. They seem dirty to us,and smell very interesting.
When it starts to get dark, the best part! Mom makes us come in.
Zoey is naughty sometimes and runs away.
Boring days, we have to stay in.
That is when we sleep for the most part. Then, we play all night long!!!
We do have a lot of toys, and the human's stuff is pretty cool.
There are lots of humans, big and small that come though the forbidden front door. It has a loud bell, but we hear them before it
sounds. The humans don't. They need us, and they don't seem to really know what is going on---

Almost one now

Uno, the year has gone by soooo fast. You were just 2 lbs 1 oz when you first went to the vet. Now, the scales says 17 lbs?
You are still pale and gorgeous. Just as beautiful inside as out.
I love how you gallop through the house at my heels, always
coming when you are called.
I can't get angry when you shred rolls of TP or paper towels--
Or when you got into my basket of hair ties (was that you?)
in the middle of the night.
Your favorite toy, and you know what it is when I say "toy",
is also Treya's favorite. A long leather lace. I find it everywhere.
Your meow is music to my ears, so sweet and expressive.
I really wish you and your sisters would lay off the kitchen chair seats and the carpets-----You are big enough to do some serious
damage. The ripping is kind of a greeting of sorts-you KNOW it cheeses me off, though.
It has been a wonderful year. I am sorry about the herpes virus you got in your eyes, and the stinging, cold drops you have to have when it flares up. I hope this has not affected your vision.

I hear you crying and scatching to get outside. You got brought back in this AM for trying to climb over the fence. There is no dog in that neighbor's yard, and they are very nice. BUT, the way the fence is, I don't think you would be able to get back over in your own yard.

Thank you for being my baby kitty, so soft, soulful and cuddlesome. I could not be more pleased with you and your sister. This has been a hard year with Dad getting sick this summer. I have been so lucky to have had you two to hold onto when I was scared, and lonely.
You are the best friends in the world, and I love you more than I can say
