Arrival Story:
Karma was born outside at the marina where we live on a houseboat barge.
She was doing quite living in the wild with her brother Tux, a beautiful tuxedo male. The last week of August a nasty URI went through the colony. Tux hasnt been seen since August 30th and is presumed dead. On September 6, Karma came to us asking for help. We scooped her up and took her to the ER vet in the middle of the night. She was treated and has been living inside with us ever since. She is a shy little girl but we are working on socializing her. She is doing very well although we know she misses Tux, as do we all.

Wow.
i dont know if i can remember all the FIRSTs we have had in our family this week, but i will try...really hard.
*Karma concentrates*
Let me see...
FIRST is was my FIRST birthday on April 30th.
then
Moozer was the FIRST one in our family to get married to the lovely Kujo on May 3rd.
then
My sisfur Puffin let Mom pet her for the FIRST time in almost two years on April 29th.
then
Yesterday, May 6th, Puffin was chosen as a DDP!
As is thats not enough FIRSTS...
i have ONE more...
i have been living in my kitten condo since last September 6th, and today, for the FIRST time...
...i ventured out of my cage! i didnt go very far, but still.
im getting brave!!

Well, can i tell you all what a wonderful day i have had?
Mom says i am one today... and that it is a miracle that i am here to celebrate!
Mom woke me up this morning with lots of snuggles and kisses. i was asleep in my bed and she came into my kitten condo (well, just half of her fits!) and sang this beautiful song to me.

Then she hugged me and told me how much she loves me and is so happy that i am safe.
i think i like this birthday stuff!
At dinnertime, i saw Mom reaching into the human cupboards. Huh? Has Mom forgotten where the cat food is? No, wait, i see cans but what is that yummy smell?
Mom says its TUNA, white albacore tuna...okay...sniff sniff...
this smells really good.
Mom puts several cans into a mixing bowl and starts mashing it with a real fork...
Then she served it to each of us...we each have our own bowl. i took one taste...mmmmmm. i ate and ate and ate till there was no more! Now that was yummy.
im glad it's my birthday, and im also glad i have 19 brothers and sisters cuz Mom says we will get TUNA on everyones birthday.
All my brofurs and sisfurs thanked me fur having a birthday but secretly i know it was just the TUNA!

Tomorrow is my first birthday, Mommy says.
i dont know what that means, but she says its a very good thing.
i miss my brother Tux. He would be 1, too, but he made his journey to the Bridge last August. We both got an URI but i asked Mom and Dad for help...he didnt. We lived outside at the time.
So Mom and Dad brought me to the doc to get well and i did get well.
Now i live in a kitty condo all by myself and i made it to a year!
The doors are open on the condo, but i prefer to stay inside...Mom decorated it so nicely for me and all!
i have a pretty green blanket and a fancy scratcher with a matching green feather hanging from it. And i have a stuffed orange fish that i rest my head on at night.
i never had so much before...
...especially the love.
im still afraid of everything, but i let Mom hug and kiss me.
i feel the love.
i think i like this place.
AND its almost my birthday!!!
