Arrival Story:
I live in a townhouse complex that welcomes cats on a grand scale so it is not unusual to have neighbor cats stop by to say hello to the friends they've made peeping into windows and doors so as I watched some of the Sydney Olympics with Freckles and Minnie on my lap I didn't think twice when I heard a meow at my screen door; when it continued and distinctly sounded like " Hello" both myself and the 2 cats went to check out this very vocal intruder. After around two hours of him just sitting staring through the screen in the door while intermittently saying his clear greeting I opened the door in an attempt to wave him away ... As I stepped outside the door Sidney walked in. He not only walked in he calmly walked past two hissing fellow felines but also jumped onto the sofa and curled up to sleep! Repeatedly placing him back outside, even closing the main door never changed Sid's position, he was here to stay. Opened or closed Sid sat staring straight at the doors saying hello now and again; attempt to step out and Sid walked in. After hours of stand-offs I gave up and told the other two that we would have sleepover company that night. They were not happy but Sid, he just ate...and climbed up on the bed and snored. It has been eight years since Sid became another of my guardians. No one claimed him when I went door to door and then plastered ads. He was just about a year old when he moved in, and his (then) reluctant companions have since passed on from old age. His vocabulary is enormous, he cusses (really!) when disturbed, asks for "food" if the bowl is empty, and tells on neighbors doings as he watches out windows. "Found", yea, right - found, who found whom?
