Arrival Story:
Daisy showed up one day at my parents house in the summer of 1989 and stuck around, due to the excellent supply of mice, baby birds and rabbits available for hunting, apparently. She was a barn cat until 1991, when she got sick with feline leukemia; we found her out in a field curled up to die and brought her in and took her to the vet. She unexpectedly recovered. When my sister moved out in 1995, she took Daisy with her, but Daisy did NOT get along with the roommate's cats. I was in grad school in South Carolina at the time and when I came home in Feb. 1996 for my grandfather's funeral, I ended up taking Daisy back south with me. She's been with me ever since, through four moves, marriage, four additional cats, a dog, a husband, and a stepson.

Bio:
Daisy loved to hunt when she was an outside cat and thoughtfully often left small "gifts" of dead mice, half a baby rabbit, and other identifiable animal parts in my parents' garage. After she was sick the vet recommended she stay indoors and she's been a house cat ever since, but not by her choice! She will still sneak out the door whenever possible, but has slowed down enough now that we can usually catch her. She can no longer jump and has to claw her way up to the couch or bed to sit with me, but even so she makes it clear that she is still the boss. Our dog, Sophie, is deathly afraid of her. Junior cat Charlotte tolerates Daisy's baths and disciplinary swats, and emergency back-up cat Lucie just stays out of her way. She's spoiled, stuck-up, and temperamental, but she's an awesome cat.
