Sister or Brother

I am writing instead of Madison because I am confused about what to do. I know you are devoted cat Moms and Dads and I thought you might have some experiences to share.

For those of you who don't know us Madison is my pride and joy she is an indoor kitty that goes out in the back yard wearing a walking jacket when I am home. I work in a crisis unit so I often work evenings. Therefore, Madison (who loves to pretend she is the great stalker) is outside a lot during the day.

This will be Madison's first Fall she has experienced with me. I adopted her Dec 13 2007 by then we had 25 inches of snow. Now that the weather has begun to change I have noticed Madison being bored and depressed. I have increased our play time together every day. But she is spending a lot of time crying, moping, and begging for attention then not liking the attention she is getting. To get back to the point I am beginning to wonder if getting Madison a sister or brother may be the solution, however I have several concerns.

First, Madison has never met another cat in the neighborhood that she has liked. Although I cant tell if that is more about protecting her territory then disliking cats. Also, as I am writing this I am aware how silly this sounds,but I would never want her to feel that she isn't enough for me or that I have given up on her.

Madison has never been a lap cat and she will only allow me to pet her when she chooses usually only when I am sound asleep and she is trying to wake me up to feed her. I know she loves and trusts me. I hope she knows the same but she has never been a cuddlier. So another concern would be what if she gets overly jealous?

As the day's get shorter and colder I have noticed a big change in her mood. I have already taken her to the vet for a check up they reported she was fine. However because of recent money issues our old vet closed and we had to switch to a new vet and they do not know Madison well.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. As Madison would say have a Purrrfect Day!

Nurse Time

Meow's everyone!
I am one verrry busy kitty today. My Mommy is sick. She's got the sneezess and her voice sounds like Donald Duck. (Ha Ha) I finally got Mom settled down on the couch. Then just to make sure she is warm enough I sit on top of her head. (Wink Wink) No really I am making sure she is well taken care. It's a good thing she has off today. I am going to try and be a big help.

Mom promises that when she feels better she will spend some time typing my stories I gots reall good ones to share! For now I am sending lots of cheek rubs and head bonks to all of you. Meowwws for now! Madison

I have misssssed you! My Mom has been really busy. She barely has any time to play anymores. Of course I took care of that by wakeing her ups at 3am every morning! I hopes all of you have a purrrfect day!

I missed you! But,I had funs at Grandma's house.(don't tell Mom...wink,wink)

Mom brought me home some really funs treats and a new warm cat bed! Yea! Plus, I am still totally making Mom feel gulity with the silent treatment so I am getting lots of hugs and pets. (giggle,giggle) I love being in charge!

I gots lots of stuff to shares with you all but Mom says she doesn't have time right now to types it. Pout... She promises to be back tonight. I miss all of my new friends. For now I am sending lots of cheek rubs and head bonks! Madison

Evil Suitcase

Meowws Catsters,
I am very upset! I walked into Mom's room today and do you know what I saw!!!! The evil black square rolly thing! You know that thing Mom puts all her stuffs in when she goes away! Last time Mom put her stuffs in there I didn't see her for three whole days!!!! Hurmph! (crosses paws over chest)

So Mom starts telling me that she has to go away for work and it will only be 2 nights blah blah blah blah.... Apparently she did not learn her lesson last time! Doesn't she know that I needs her to be here so I can ignore her! Why doesn't she get that this is clearly ALL ABOUT ME!!!

Mom just came out and tried to pets me. I wouldn't even let her touch me. I went and hid under her bed right in the middle so she cant reach me or nuthing.... Pout... Pout....

Mom says that I am going to stay by Grandma's. She say's that Grandma's got some new toy and treats for me. Well FINE! Pout.... I will go to Grandma's house, but I won't have any fun!

Mom can just leave forever for all I care... No one cares what I think. No one loves me at all (throws herself dramatically across the cat bed) Pout... Pout......

1. I was adopted from Dane County Friends of Feral they work with the Humane Society.

2. I got sick when I was a kitten, because of that my sister and I didn't
get adopted until we were 8 months old. My foster Mom was a vet tech. She helped so many sick Kitty's every year she would name us by the 50 states. Sometimes she ran out of states! My name was California and my sister was Carolina.

3. When Mom was trying to figure out what to name me. The only word I would respond too was Madison. Mom thinks it could be because the vets that I used to stay at had Madison in their name.

4. Much to my Mom's dismay I am not a lap cat. I can't stand to be held. Mom can pick me up for a few seconds when she comes home from work and give me a hug but that's it.

5. Mom says I have a special gift, even though I HATE being held if someone is in pain or ill I will let them hold me and pet me as long as they want. Mom takes me to see Great Grandpa he is 95.

6. I have IBD but Mom figured a way to keep me well at least so far.

7. I love to herd my humans. They might think they know were they are going but I show them were they really want to go.

Dogs

Purrrsonally I don't get the big thing about dogs. Our next door neighbor just got something Mom calls a golden retriever puppy. You should have seen her drool all over this creature. I can't believe it! It is so clear cats are the superior beings.

So this afternoon our neighbor brings home this puppy thing. I suppose it could be kind of cute if it stopped jumping around and licking everything. Mom went over to meet her which I told her was clearly a betrayal of the cat-hood but she went over there anyway. That puppy jumped all over her even....Yuck!... LICKED HER FACE! She didn't even seem to mind!

Then this creature try's to come over and play with me. I told her right off. "You have got to be kidding! First she was a baby and I don't play with babies not to mention... Hello.... She's a DOG!"

Mom tells me that a lot of kitty's have brothers and sisters who are dogs and they love them very much and I should give Nadine another chance.

Well.... I told her I am sure other Kitty's do luv's them but we aren't talking about other Kitty's we are talking about ME. Why does she always forget this important fact? It is ALWAYS about ME!

Sigh.... I don't know..... What do you cool cats think? Should I try to be friends? Mom says it won't hurt me to grow a little bit. Sigh... I hate growing! It always involves work. Pout... Pout...

Good Meowwworning!
I don't know what happened to Mom this morning. I was just sitting on my tree keeping watch for those evil Chippymunks when Mom gots all excited about me being the "diary pick" today.

What ever that means shrug... She said I should be excited because that means people like meowws stories. Shrug... I say of course they do! They are all about ME after all. Anyways Catster I thinks you are pretty cool too! Not as cool as me of course, but you know.... a close second at least. Wink Wink.... Cheek rubs and head bonks to you all! Luv's, Madison

Chippymunks

Dear Friends,
Do Chippymunks bother you as much as they bother me? Right out side my purrawsome sunny window there are 3 baby Chippymunks that live under my deck! Can you believe that! Purrsonally I think their Mommy should have known better but they seem to like it there. When I gets to go outside I sit right there and talk to them but they still wont come out and plays with me. I told them I wouldn't hurt them just push them around a little. Who wouldn't like that? The really frustrating part is I can't reach them.

Last night I was sitting on my tree minding my own business and out they come. They played all night long. Like they were teasing me! I was telling them to go away so I could get some sleep. Mommy came out to see what all the fuss was. I guess I woke her up... She kept saying something like it was 3 am like I care about that! I wanted to go play!!!! Hurmph!

Then this morning as soon as the big light came up in the sky I woke Mom up and begged her to go outside and play. Do you know what! Those little Chippymunks were sleeping!! Hurmph! Pout!

At least I got to go to Grandma's today for a visit. She gives me yummy treats and lots of luvs! I hope all of you have a PURRFECT DAY! Luv's Madison

Missing Mommy

I really didn't want Mommy to go to work today. Sometimes it's ok because I can nap, play with my feathers, sit on the counters, knock stuff on the floor... you know fun stuff. But today Mom tricked me because she had off in the morning. We had a really good time she played with me and we sat outside. I thought it was her day off!

Then she disappears and the next thing she is saying good bye! Well...Humph! I made her feel really guilty! First I wrapped myself around her legs, then I raced her to the door and stood in front of it, then as the piece de resistance I jumped up on the foyer table and wined looking really cute and adorable.

Can you believe she still left! Humph! Pout

Mom always goes on and on about how if she didn't go to work we wouldn't have a house to live in or any tuna to eat. I think that is silly! After all who is going to kick us out right?

Well just so she knows how I really feel about the situation I left a nice surprise for her in the bathroom. wink wink... if she gets upset I will just tell her it started snowing little pieces of paper. After all I couldn't have done anything wrong. I am just the cat. wink ;-)
