Nala disappeared the last weekend in July (29 or 30)For two weeks I called and called for her on my way to and from work every day. I even walked around outside a few times at night calling for her, but never saw or heard anything. I started to think maybe she'd run into a wild animal who hurt or killed her, or even got hit by a car. I even started thinking of adopting a new cat- Spitfire cried a lot, and sounded so sad and lonely, I knew she missed her sister. But then last Friday- Aug 12, nearly 2 weeks to the day that she disappeared- I was standing in my kitchen late at night, and I heard her unmistakable meow on the porch. I peeked out the window, and sure enough, there was my little black tortie kitty with the white spot on her nose. I all but ran outside to get her, but I approached her slowly, holding my hand out so she would know it was me. She let me pick her up, and I carried her inside. She didn't have any injuries, but had lost a lot of weight. I put some food in her bowl, and she chowed down gratefully. We're so happy to have her back! She sleeps with me every night now- something she never did before.

About two weeks ago, Nala found a dime sized spider on the floor in our bedroom. She chased it under the bed, where we figured it would get away, but a few minutes later, she came out from under the other side of the bed batting something with her paw. A closer look revealed it was the spider with its legs all curled up. She killed it under the bed and brought it out the other side!I had to take a picture of my little hunter. She sniffed at the spider like she was going to eat it, then seemed to decide against it, so I threw it away. Daddy was especially proud of her (he hates spiders) so he gave her some tuna fish as a reward. Spitfire got some tuna too, because we love both our kitties!

Nala moved into her new home on Sept 9. On Sept 14 she disappeared. Mommy, Daddy and Spitfire looked all over, but couldn't find her. We thought maybe she got outside and got hurt or lost. Daddy made a "missing kitty" flyer on Monday, and Tuesday morning our next-door neighbor called and said he had found her in the hallway--she must have snuck out when we opened the door- but he thought she had been abandoned, seeing as she had no collar. He brought her to his sister's house, because he thought she would take good care of her. He picked Nala up and brought her home to us on his way home from work, at 7:30pm. We were so happy to have her back! Nala still keeps us awake when we try to sleep, but after almost losing her, we don't mind. Mommy got her a collar and a name tag with our phone number in case she sneaks out again sometime. Hopefully she doesn't, but we learned our lesson!
