Arrival Story:
Charlie was turned in to the animal shelter by the animal control officer at app. 5-6 weeks, obviously feral & was due to be euthanized that afternoon. I saw her, faced into the darkest corner of a bare steel cage, trying to hide where there was no hiding place. I took her home & she eventually lost her fear of me, (she's still not totally comfortable with my husband), she lives outside by choice. Other than the vet no human has ever been been able to get near her. I used to bring her in for the night, but she wasn't happy that way, so I've accepted her right to live the way she wants. She has a cat condo on the porch, in the winter it gets wrapped up in blankets & a comforter with just a little opening for her to slip in & out; when it's really cold I go out at 9 or so, feel to see whether she's in bed yet & close that little opening. I wonder what would happen if it were someone elses hand? She is quite affectionate towards me in her own way, as long as I don't try to pick her up. At heart she will always be feral.
