My mother's friend moved into an apartment that didn't allow pets and we already had 2 cats so my mom adopted Flakes as her third kitty. It took him a long time (about 1 year) to get fully acquainted with us and he picked a favorite human (ME). I got really attached to him so my mom promised that when I got married and moved out, he was all mine. Lo and behold, my then boyfriend Phillip proposed and we were married in August 2008. We didn't quite have enough money for the pet deposit until now so we just got Flakes today (January 19, 2009)
