Arrival Story:
Dusty's predecessor - Tiga, our precious bluepoint Siamese - had recently died, a few weeks shy of her 20th. birthday, leaving a terrible void at our home and in my heart. I was desperate for a replacement kitten and my only wish for the new baby was that it be female...and Siamese. Without delay, we answered the only advert in the local paper offering Siamese kittens. The owners had had other callers...but did have a female left if we could come straightaway...of COURSE we could!! We were told the kittens were not bred for the show ring, rather they were offered as household pets. Mom and Dad cat appeared in good health but were very timid and fled the room at our approach. "Our" kitten had to be located and then forcibly removed from behind the sofa. But she relaxed and settled into my arms immediately. There was no question...we were taking her home.
Bio:
Later, we learned that the owners bred their queen as often as was possible...and we suspected that Dusty's parents were 'related'. Mother cat resembled a chocolate-point and father, a lilac. Our Duster is somewhere in-between. We like to describe her as "chocolac". Over time, we have discovered...well...that Dusty's Meow Mix is a few flavors short. She runs into walls in her pursuit of things only she can see and frequently stares off into space, for what seems like hours. What our Dustbrain lacks in intelligence, she certainly makes up for in dopey sweetness. She has a loud, low rumbly purr which she freely shares with just about anyone. In her advancing age, she is becoming more and more a lap warmer. We are so glad she's ours and we love her very much!!
