Arrival Story:
As you may have read in Lucky's story, I am the last caretaker of a colony of cats at JFK airport. Most of them were rounded up by the Port Authority, in their attempt to "clean up" the airport of "pests". Of course, these cats were bothering no one and were NOT the threat to aviation safety they used as an excuse to do what they did. Anywayyyy.... One by one, maybe two at a time, I've been trapping and relocating the ones that are left - with no shelter or anything, as the PA removed all the things we had set up for them and just left after doing a half assed job. Rocky is my latest. I had been wanting to get him for a long time, as he was friendly to an extent and such a pretty boy. He looked and acted as if he had been somebody's pet, which is quite possible, as airlines lose more pets than you care to know about. Well I finally managed to trap him and was quite happy. I brought him and another boy to North Shore Animal League to get fixed and shots etc. Turns out they were BOTH already fixed, confirming that he probably was someone's pet. The other one, Smokey, was labeled "geriatric" LOL! and yeah, he does have that "look" about him. He has been successfully relocated to another colony. Rocky on the other hand really needs a good HOME. While he was scared at first, the worst he's ever done is hiss. No scratching, biting or lashing out. He didn't want to come out of the trap into his cage, no matter how much urging I tried. I even tried to slide him out on the thick paper on the bottom of the trap, but as soon as I got him to the opening, he moved to the back of the trap! LOL! Since I had had my arm in the trap, petting him for a good half hour before that, I said the heck with it and just reached in and took him out. He did nothing but cling to the trap bars for dear life, but I gently unhooked his claws and put him in the cage. Over the last few days I've been petting him, talking gently to him and even feeding him out of my hand. He is relaxing more and more and just last night he turned on his side and showed me his belly! Needless to say I just HAD TO give him belly rubs and he loved it. :-) He is still pretty shy however and is pretty much just staying in his bed. This boy really needs a good home so he can blossom and shine like I know he can. With my 4 cats in my tiny apartment and Casey STILL hating Lucky and now Bella (with no real place to hide, all hell breaks loose far too often) I just can't bring another cat here. Right now he's in a cage at my friend's house. With 13 inside cats, she can't keep another. I hope just the right person sees him and just has to have him and give him all the love he deserves. BTW I really have NO idea how old he is, I just gave him my birthday 3 years ago. LOL!

Bio:
I was rather upset when they insisted they had to ear tip him. His ears were perfect and he was already fixed and I told them we wanted to adopt him out, as he is so friendly. I really hope that doesn't put anyone off adopting this lovely boy. But then again, if it does, they don't deserve him! :-)

Rocky the cat vs Rocky the Squirrel!

I forgot something funny that happened a while ago. One day Lucky and I were looking out the window and mommy came up and looked out with us. We then noticed that the squirrel was walking up the path to the big tree in front of the house. Mommy made some noises at him and he stopped, looked over his shoulder at us and then turned around. He then walked up the path towards the door and disappeared from sight. Mommy said she thought he was going to ring the doorbell! LOL!

Well all of a sudden, he ran over to the window from the right, stopped to look at us for a second and then jumped at the window and ran off! He scared the bejeebus out of us and then made us laugh like crazy. Well, he made mommy laugh like crazy. Cats don't laugh. We kinda chuckle on the inside, but never show it. :-) Mommy says she doesn't know what would have happened if the screeen wasn't there or if it broke and she doesn't want to find out! Neither do we!

Fortunately for now, he just makes lots of noise up on the roof and chases the other squirrel around.

Thank goodness!

Mommy has been really busy lately and really hasn't had time for me to come on here and update my story. She finally got around to taking "adoptable" off my profile - I was starting to get worried there! whew!

Things have been going great, although nothing terribly exciting has happened. Aunt Carmen finally found out about me however! One morning when Mommy was giving us all Temptations treats, Aunt Carmen came up to ask something. As she sat at the top of the steps talking, mommy was desperately trying to keep me out of her sight. She kept tossing me a couple of treats, but I wanted MORE and finally came right up close to her. Aunt Carmen, who is very old and doesn't have the best sight, DID notice right away that something was different.

"Who's that?" "Um, uh, that's the princess, Casey..." "No, look, that's not her. She's different." "Oh! this one! oh that's my friend's cat. She moved and can't have cats right now. I'm just watching him for her for a while.." Mommy had me really scared! I thought she was going to give me away to someone else, but it was just a ruse. Her aunt believed her and I've been here ever since. I think she figured out I'm here to stay!

Casey and Callie still do not like me and I don't know why. I'm such a good boy and don't bother anyone. Lucky and Bella have been very nice to me on the other hand. Especially Lucky. Mommy calls him my boyfriend and we really like to groom eachother and snuggle. Mommy laughs when she catches us "spooning". Whatever that means!

I'm so glad mommy decided to keep me and that I don't have to be outside any more. It's awfully cold out there right now. brrrrrrr!!!

Well, I've been here a month or so now and things couldn't be better! Ummm, well, maybe they could - Casey and Callie still hate me. :-( I don't know why, I don't bother them or anything. I sure wish they'd stop growling and swatting at me. I'd really like to be their friend.

Anyway... Lucky and Bella have been really nice to me however. :-) We just love to look out the window together on the window perch. Mommy has had to keep the window closed the last several days though - besides the fact it's been freezing here, one of us ripped a big hole in the screen. :-0 She has no idea which one of us did it and we ain't talking! Mommy was really upset. She was so afraid that one of us could have gone right out the window! She taped it up with something called duct tape, but she's still afraid to leave it open when she's not around. That sucks. :-( She says she'll keep it open once it gets warmer and she replaces the screen. She made us promise not to do that again, but well, we promised her we'd TRY, but...

Well, it's time for bed now and I'm really tired. I'm so glad I have a nice, big, comfy BED to sleep in now, instead of the cold hard floor of some place I struggled to find. Mommy says it's kinda hard to sleep with 5 kitty bodies on hers, but she doesn't care - she loves us all and loves having us with her.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood for sure!
