Arrival Story:
I wanted a dog at first, but the cats at Town Lake Animal Center were so sweet that I decided to get an adult cat. But on my second visit to the shelter I noticed two new orange tabby kittens that looked like identical twins, brother and sister. They were curled up together and obviously loved each other...I couldn't get just one! They came home with me and I named them Henry and Beth. I've always adored orange cats and these two pumpkins are the loves of my life!

Bio:
Beth is named after Queen Elizabeth I of England, because she was a famous redhead who was much adored. And I firmly believe it's appropriate to name cats after royalty! :)

Beth's Observations

We're really growing up!

September 17th 2008 9:26 am   [link to this entry]

Yesterday Henry and I BOTH lost our baby canines! Three of them in total! (I still have one hanging on, so my mouth is lopsided. One side only has the adult canine and one side has two!) Mom knew we were teething when she brought us home and saw the double rows of teeth, so it was only a matter of time until we lost them. But isn't it funny that we both lost three in one day?? Mom actually found one lying on the floor and didn't realize it was a cat tooth at first! The other two are nowhere to be found. Mom thinks we might have swallowed them, which is normal, or they're deep in some hidden part of the carpet. Mom is glad that we lost our teeth because she was anxious for us to stop the "bities" and because she didn't want to have to take us to the vet to get them pulled, but mom is also sad we're growing up. I can tell!

Update!

September 14th 2008 3:04 pm   [link to this entry]

It's been three weeks now since my brother Henry and I settled into our new home. We wasted no time exploring every nook and cranny and then succumed to an URI we were harboring from the kennel. That took one anxious week to sort out at the vets, but now we're back in full swing and playing all the time! We had our first experience with catnip (whoa!) which Henry likes more than I do...we gained a lot of weight since mom brought us home (I blame mom's yummy Wellness food) and are no longer scrawny and thin! Mom is very happy with how much weight I gained. Henry got strong and big enough to learn how to jump straight up on the kitchen counter and I started following his example, though I have to scratch and haul myself up a bit. Henry is definitely my mean older brother at times, he gets snarly at dinner time and always has to be the first one to eat and hogs all the playtime with mom. Fortunately he plays gentle with me and gives me kisses sometimes to, and lets mom and I snuggle all the time, so we're pretty happy siblings so far!
