Arrival Story:
When I was 12 years old, my mom told me we could get a cat. A friend's next-door neighbor had a litter ready for adoption, so we went there to see them. The woman brought out a black and white boy kitten, malnourished and half-bald. He hissed and spat at me, and I didn't want a male. The woman was angry when I asked to see the other kitten. She said that the 'thing' was hiding under the table, and she didn't want to bother. I was pretty cute back then, so I gave her my big doe-eyes, and she went back in. After about fifteen minutes, she came out with a tiny tortoiseshell kitten. I had never seen a cat with this kind of coloring before, and she was female to boot. I immediately grabbed her from the horrible woman, and cuddled her all the way home. There was a terrible thunderstorm, but she just curled up in my lap and purred. I named her Scully because I was a fan of the X-files at the time. She's been with me through everything. I had to leave her at home when I moved to Michigan, and I worried about her constantly. I finally got her back after two years without her. We just moved to California, and she's happy in her kitty-retirement. She gets to chase squirrels in her very own high-fenced back yard. Also, for the first time, the dog whose house she is sharing has no interest in chasing her down and chewing on her. If anything, Gunar avoids her at all costs. She officially owns this home.
