Pepper, Little Dude, Bat Ears, Pocket Panther, Ninja2thePepper2theKorn, Dear Little Cat, Shroeder, Catzooka, Gato Blaster (the last 2 refer to the way he loves being carried around while draped over a shoulder), Pantheriffic

Kitty Complexion:
sleepyvery active
not curiousvery curious
not vocalvery vocal

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed-cat rescue

Snuggling, lap-lounging, romping, Jupiter, shoulder-riding

Loud noises, strangers, the vaccuum, when no-one else is in the mood to play

Favorite Toy:
The laser pointer--he loves to chase that elusive "red bug"! He also enjoys the Cat Dancer, squishy balls, Jupiter's tail, the she-human's hair

Favorite Nap Spot:
In bed, ususally either on our legs or curled up with Jupiter. Under the blanket on cold nights.

Favorite Food:
He's on a special diet for urinary crystals. He's curious about treats & human food, but not much of a "snacker"

Melting hearts, playing fetch, outguessing the she-human when they play-stalk each other

Arrival Story:
We felt it was time to adopt, and had been discussing this for a few weeks. On August 11, 2002, we visited the shelter where we'd found Jupiter. Many other potential adopters were there, and although we saw several wonderful cats, my life partner & I looked at each other & he suggested we also visit a local petshop that does adoptions on weekends--I had been on the verge of suggesting the same thing to him. We petted & talked to most of the cats at the petshop, and this often-difficult choice was taken out of our hands when a tiny kitten literally jumped into my life partner's arms! The little guy purred loudly, remained calm and snuggly, and was equally snuggly when handed over to me so my partner could get the carrier from the car. One of us held him continually as papers were signed, supplies purchased etc. We set him up in our guest room, which has a fairly large space under the door, to make his introduction to everykitty else as smooth as possible. There was immediate interest in the new kid, especially from Fritta & Jupiter who set up camp outside the closed door. This seculsion only lasted a couple days, during which there was plenty of sniffing, paw-tapping and peeking under the door. Upon the face-to-face meeting, Jupiter gave 1 or 2 gentle hisses (as if this were a mere formality) and became friends with the kitten within hours. It took a few days for Fritta, but once they began playing together it was funny how big the petite Fritta seemed next to the kitten. Papercut, as was expected, was surly for several weeks, but eventually she accepted him as part of the household.

Ninja PepperKorn has so many endearing qualities. If he wants someone to come play with him, he'll sit in the hallway and let out what sounds like a sorrowful, highpitched mew--but when we go to investigate, he'll be sitting with a ball or other toy between his front paws and an expectant look on his face. If he wants to interact with the laser pointer, he either looks up at the ceiling or tries to grab the pointer from the night stand. When he wants to be picked up, he'll rear up on his back legs , stretch out and kind of "flop" his front paws high on his human's legs. His chirp is so soft that it's practically inaudible, but he often makes this sound as he's prancing up to greet us. He picked up Jupiter's habit of grunting or snorting when he's being petted, but not as loudly or often as Jupiter. If Ninja PepperKorn is napping and we need to move him for any reason (for example, someone needs the papers he's resting on, or I'm trying to make the bed), he'll agreeably continue his nap wherever he's placed. He's got this quirk of puffing his tail out & elevating a short mowhawk along his spine (as if he's feeling agressive or threatened) when he's in full purr-and-snuggle mode, like he wants to let everyone know what a fierce panther he *really* is.
