Tortoiseshell Silver

Cotton likes snuggling and belly rubs. When she's not looking for attention from people she likes a soft comfy spot to sleep.

Cotton is not a fan of baths.

Favorite Toy:
Cotton is more interested in hanging out with people than with playing although she does like to bat around my foam earplugs when she can get her paws on one.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Cotton likes to nap on someone's lap and she'll take over your pillow in the middle of the night. She also likes napping in a paper bag if one is available.

Favorite Food:
Cotton is on a natural, organic, grain free diet because her vet feels that is the most healthy for her. She likes Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie and Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Sometimes she gets a little cheap kibble as some "kitty junk food."

Arrival Story:
Cotton is currently a foster cat from the Greenbelt Animal Shelter in Greenbelt, Maryland where she was brought in as a stray in late summer of 2007. She was a very sick little cat when she came to foster care but she's such a lovebug that the shelter manager thought she needed a second chance at getting better.

Since coming to our home as a foster Cotton has doubled her weight from a teensie tiny three pounds to a more healthy (but still petite) six pounds. Cotton is not currently ready for adoption due to lingering health issues but interested adopters can contact me or Greenbelt Animal Shelter for more information.

Cotton had an appointment with her traditional vet Dr. Knight at CityPaws in D.C. (She also sees a homeopathic vet, Dr. Chapman.) Cotton has an ongoing skin issue and just got over ringworm. The poor little girl is still trying to get her immune system back in tip top shape but in the meantime it seems we're battling a new problem each week.

Cotton was on a long course of antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection which is mostly cleared now except for the occassional sniffle or sneeze. Unfortunately those antibiotics resulted in an over abundance of yeasties which make her uncomfortable and itchy and when she's itchy she scratches which introduces yeast into the skin which makes her itchy... You get the picture.

So we're trying some antifungal medication along with toenail cleanings (the yeast is building up especially bad on her nails) and a switch from clumping clay litter to paper litter. Cotton's also going to be getting baths with a medicated shampoo for another (unrelated) skin problem on her tummy. She is not a fan of baths but she's small and my kitchen sink is large so bathing her isn't too hard. Mostly she sits there meowing as if to say "Guys! Guys!!..... I'm WET!"

Poor girl is a mess! But she's far better than she was an still improving.
