She liked to be brushed, even though she didn't like to be held
She never got mad at anything. But everything scared her.
She didn't play.
Favorite Nap Spot:
We always joked "it might be poison!" Because she approached all offered food with caution
She was very good at hiding.
I was born on a farm where there were lots of other cats and some dogs too. All the other cats were mean to me so I hid all the time under the wellhouse. One day my mommy and daddy came to the farm and took me to their house.
I was still just a little kitten then. There was another cat at that house named Gabby. Gabby was real nice to me at first. She even let me try to nurse. But then, as I grew, she didn't like me much.
I was very afraid of everything, especially people. I never learned exactly what the litter box was for and I used to do my business in the bathtub or in corners in the house. After about two years of this mommy made me an outdoor kitty.
I had my own house outside that daddy had built. It was insulated with tar paper and carpet and had shingles on the roof. The outside was covered in plastic until they painted it for me. They kept a lamp in it in the winter for heat and it stayed very warm.
After some years Gabby died and I thought "aha!" now it is going to be my turn to live in the house! Mommy would let me in in the evenings for a few hours and I would lie quietly beside her on the couch until it was time for me to go back outside. But then, one night when mommy went to let me in there were two little kittens inside the house! Edgar and Emily! Well I refused to cross the threshold and I never would again. Mommy felt really sad about that.
When mommy and daddy moved from that house to a house in a town I got a whole garage all to myself. I was very happy there. I lived with mommy and daddy for 18 and a half years before I went to the Bridge. I was a special kitty.
Lucy was indeed a special kitty. We think the other cats on the farm ostracized her because she had something wrong with her mentally. She was the sweetest kitty that ever lived. She never raised a paw in anger. I never heard her hiss in 18 and a half years. But she was so terribly timid. She didn't like to be held. The picture on this page of me holding her is the only such picture that exists. It broke my heart to turn her into an outdoor kitty but no method I tried could teach her to use the litter box. I hope as an angel that Lucy is now brave and strong. She was my sweet little old lady kitty.
There is danger everywhere

I know, I don't write often from the Bridge. Not much at all actually. But I was visiting my mommy's heart tonight and I wanted her to write about me.
When mommy was in law school, lo those many years ago, she had a 75 mile drive to school fur classes effuryday. So she had to get up early in the morning. Well I took care of her! I was her "nighty night" kitty! :~)
Faithfully, effury night when M.A.S.H. was over after the late night news I would head across the bedroom into the living room (our house was tiny then and the door to the bedroom was in the living room... no hall). Mommy and daddy would always say: "Lucy says it's time to go to bed!" I knew when mommy needed to go to bed! And I slept on the bed on top of the covers at her feet. That is until she made me go live outside because I wouldn't use the litter box and I pee'd in every corner of the house. That wasn't my fault!! If mommy had been a better and smarter human she would have figured out what was wrong and I wouldn't have had to go live outside. :~(
But they did make me a nice little house. And when they moved to a bigger house I had a whole garage to myself with a nice box with blankies and pillow and a heating lamp over it. I REALLY liked the time mommy and daddy decided they were going to try to quit smoking in the house! Because they spent lots of time out in the garage that year! MOL! And I got lots of pettings and brushing. :~)
I loved my mommy and daddy a lot even though they weren't purrfect.

Mommy finally added a picture of my tree to my page. She was waiting fur it to turn it pretty fall colors. The little red bushy thing in the new "My Tree" picture on my page isn't a bush. It is a Japanese Lace Leaf Maple. And my earthly shell is buried under it. Mommy and daddy knew when I went to the Bridge that this was the place to put me because I liked to nap under the sheltering leaves of that tree when I was on earth.
I almost furgot to mention...mommy and daddy worried that people might frown on somebody burying a kitty in the front flower garden. So daddy waited until late at night when it was dark to put me there because they wanted me to be able to rest furrever in my favorite spot.
