Arrival Story:
After my cat Molly died, I went to the Boston Animal Rescue League Shelter and met Toccata and his brother Fugue. Toccata rubbed against the grill of the cage and really wanted to be petted, despite the barking dogs and loud people. His brother turned out to be a sweetie too, and I adopted both of them.
Bio:
About a year ago, Toccata developed chronic stomatitis, which means that he's allergic to the plaque on his teeth and his gums get inflamed and hurt him as a result. While working on that, he stopped eating and got hepatic lipidosis (when cats stop eating, their liver makes them nauseous, and so they don't start eating on their own again -- it's a downhill spiral). We got that taken care of (yay, feeding tubes!), and then the teeth too (he got all but his front teeth extracted, and still manages to eat dry food). He's doing so well on the dental front that he's gained his old weight back, plus some, and now is too "fluffy" and needs to slim down. Anyway, he's my sweetie, and I'm very glad to have him better.
