Really? Whose idea was this?

I get that Sadie was a great dog - she was - and everyone was sorry when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Even I shed a kitty tear.

But did Andrew have to have another dog?

Okay - Rowdy belongs to Gary - so yeah, I guess he does need a dog of his own. Does it have to be this dog??

Gah - this puppy is driving me insane. Cujo - what a stupid name for a little dog. If that is not bad enough, now he thinks he has to live up to the "big-dog" name. Always wanting to play, always sticking his smashed up nose in my business....

Glad the gate in the hallway gives me half a house of safety.

Lesson learned

Being free was not all it was cracked up to be, and on a rainy night in December, I came home. I was tired of being cold and hungry. I felt terrible and I was scared all the time. I just wanted to be inside where it was warm and dry.

My pet parents were so happy to see me. Even Rowdy was happy. I just wanted to hide. They were very patient with me. They made sure I was ok health-wise, and then they gave me the time and space to regain my strength. I am grateful that they let me come home.

Final thoughts

While my family was taking care of Sadie in her final days, I made my escape! Now I am free and outside again! I feel badly that my human family misses me, and that Rowdy is alone, but not badly enough to come home.

Outdoor treat!

My family is pretty cool. They let me have the run of the house, and I have gotten the dogs in line. They were used to a feline leader and I did not have too much trouble.

The best thing that has happened is that Mom lets me go outside with the dogs! The backyard is fenced, and the first few times she stood out there with me to make sure that I did not try to escape. Is she crazy?? I know what a good life I have here. I was a stray once before - and NEVER again!

The yard is grassy but has a few patches of sand - perfect for lounging and rolling in. There is an orange tree that I like to sit under. The squirrels like to race across the top of the wooden fence, but I have learned to ignore them. If they ever come down into the yard - they are toast!

With loud hound dogs living directly behind us, and a German Shephard next door, I have no intention of leaving the security of my backyard. I am so happy to be able to spend time outdoors that I won't spoil my chance.

As Mom writes this entry, she can see me sitting on the back step with my pal Rowdy. The sun is shining, a breeze is in the air and life is SWEET!
