The more dust bunnies, fuzz, and dirt on him the better. He loves being with "Dad".

Being combed, loud noises, going outside, and getting wet...keep that bath stuff away!

Favorite Toy:
glitter ball, paper of any kind, mirrors & invisible bugs

Favorite Nap Spot:
special pillow grandma made or back of my chair so he can kick me in the head.

Favorite Food:
Fresh Shrimp or Turkey

Drools when he is happy & stares at the wall better than any cat I know

Arrival Story:
I wanted a Main Coon and when I saw the chirpy happy ball of fluff, I had to have him. We walked into his room that had him and his 2 sisters and he ran right to my husband. He was my Birthday present but he loves "Dad" the most. He is easy going but gives you this crabby look every time you try to take his photo.

He loves to have his ears cleaned and the more you scratch them and dig in them the happier he becomes. Merl is easily distracted, especially when eating and that is why he isn't as large as what he should be. He is a loveable goofy cat with tons of personality.

Time to say goodbye...

Merlin felt pretty bad yesterday. He had trouble catching his breath. We had hoped it was just an episode and he would be better but by today he had gotten worse. The fluid had built up in his chest and he was struggling to breathe. The vet said there was nothing that could be done, Merly was in full blown congestive heart failure. We decided it was time to put him to sleep and take his hurt away.

Please, if you have a Maine Coon, be aware there is a genetic link to heart disease. I found that it affects a big percentage of the Maine Coons. So take yours to the vet and catch this early. There is no cure, but with medications it can make things much easier on your kitty.

We will miss him greatly...

Mom has told me I have feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). That is why I get tired and why i had to go to the vet last week. I had fluid build up in my chest. It didn't hurt, just was a little harder to breathe. The vet folks made me a little sleepy then took the fluid out. I really did feel better once I got home.
Had to go back yesterday for a check up. Mom said there was a little fluid still there so I get to continue my pills. I am pretty tuckered out today, but I ate my breakfast and just chilled out on the kitchen table. I think I will snooze today. I guess us Main Coon boys are prone to this heart problem. Mom called it genetics. Whatever, as long as she rubs my ears I am a happy boy.

My Toof!

The darn Bengal was chasing me and I jumped up onto the kitchen table and darn it...I hit my toof! Now I only have one fang. Although it gives me somewhat of an edgy look and I have an excuse to drool..well more so than normal.
