Pet-Peeves: cats; other dogs outside when he's inside; also, he barks at litter on the street when we go walking
Favorite Toy: anything that squeaks or is soft
Favorite Food: Eukanuba
Favorite Walk: Fort Funston, San Francisco
Best Tricks: he can shake hands
Arrival Story: I always wanted a cocker spaniel, from when I was a kid. When the rules changed at our apartment complex to allow dogs, we looked and looked for a local cocker breeder. Finally we found one with puppies available. I was looking for a buff female. She said, "I don't have any buff females, but I do have a little chocolate male." I said, "CHOCOLATE??!!" We just went to "look at him," and the rest is history.
Bio: Hershey's parents are champions (his dad is an international champ), and one of his litter mates is winning championships as well. But Hershey is neutered (per agreement with the breeder, and because we wanted to), so there's no pressure on him. He's just a fun-loving snuggle bunny.
Forums Motto: When you're chocolate, life is sweet!
A month or a year ago or something, we were thinking that when this weekend came it would be the end of Dogster. We were furry sad and furry frightened to become homeless! Some of our good pals worked furry hard and fast to build new houses fur us, so a lot of the scary went away. The sad is stickier, but we heard that Dogster isn't going away after all, so our tails are wagging! (Mommy is skeptable, but hey, we're dogs! We don't do skeptable!!)
Anywag, it occurred to me that I've never barked about my typical Dogster day. This seems like a good day to do that.
The furst thing I do is check mommy's e-mail. That's where I find messages if one of my Dogster pals has sent me a gift, or commented on my diary or a photo. That's so exciting!! The next thing is to send out my thank-you gifts or notes.
Next I go to the Community Page to see if any of my pals are having Barkdays or Gotcha Days so I can send them pressies! Some days there are only one or two, but some days the list is way long! How fun!! Today my pal Whisper, who is at the Rainbow Bridge, is celebrating his Barkday! Happy Barkday, Whisper!!
Next I look to see if I know the winners of the Dogster honors, Dog of the Day or Dog of the Week of Diary of the Day, and all the Daily Diary Picks. I'm so proud when my pals are featured!! I send them notes and pressies and Condogulations! This week my pal Sunny is the Dog of the Week!! And today four out of the five DDPs are pals of mine! Condogulations to Puff, Pepper, Daisy and Cinnamon!!
Now it's time to go to my groups! Furst I go to Furiends Furever, because I have a cafe there. It's called Hershey's Place. I serve breakfast and din-din there, and the pups and kitties like to come in to chat or play or nap. In the winter we have a big fire in the fireplace all day long. In the summer we open the pool, and there is also a lake just down the hill. It's always fun to see who might pop in! Walker and his fambly are there evfurry day, and Chauncey still visits from the Rainbow Bridge. While I'm busy in the cafe, Winkie likes to run through the other threads playing games!
Next I go to Princess Divas and Prince Charmings (PDPC). That's a furry fun group with lots of games and contests. Bailey and Buttercup work furry hard to update the threads evfurry day. They have Royal Members of the Day and Week, and they nevfur furget a Barkday or Purrday. Winkie and I always have a good time there!
About this time mommy will tell me it's time to let her do other things, like fight with the sucky monster or mess around in the kitchen. We also have to get our brush-and-walk. So we put the confuser away until later. Then it's pop in and out whenevfur we can between mommy looking at the teevee box and whatevfur else she does after daddy gets home. I like to see if any of my pals have added photos or diaries. I serve din-din at Hershey's Place, and I always check in at Pets That Love Fun. I have lots of groups here that I visit, and some I wish I could visit more often. And now there is also Pets4Pals and the Pupster/Kitster forum. I even have a blog. Mommy says it's all too much, but I say if she had her priorities straight we could do it all, evfurry day! I love Dogster and I always will. I hope Dogster lives furevfur!
Well, imagine that! Dogster isn't closing the Community after all! This is great news! We love Dogster, and we were SO SAD when they said it would go away. It's hard to know right now who rescued it, and how much of it they rescued, and whether evfurrything will stay the same. And we're sorry that some of our pals have already packed up and pulled down their own pages. Mommy felt like doing that sometimes, but just couldn't. We kept hoping, and we kept pawraying, and we said we would stay and go down with the Dogster ship on March 3. But now someone has put a cork in the hull, and we have more time.
We've learned some important lessons. Like save evfurrything as you go, back-up all your photos and diaries, and collect off-Dogster addresses from all your pals if you can. And some of our mommies and daddies have gone to work to make us new homes, like P4P and Pupsters and Kitsters. We won't be leaving those, even if we spend most of our time at Dogster, just like we have been.
Most of all, we were reminded how important evfurry one of our pals is, and how much smaller our world would be without all of you. We were reminded how much we count on you being there, and how much we value your knowledge and experience and support, and the way you make us laugh, and the way you challenge us to be the best doggies (and doggie pawrents) we can be. And we showed Say Media and the world that a real Community can nevfur be destroyed. AroooOOOoooooOOOO!!!! fur US!!!
It's been awhile since mommy helped either of us with our diaries. She was just about to, and then she says Dogster dropped a bomb on us. But I didn't hear anything. Anywag, she's been spending lots of time banging on her confuser and packing our Dogster suitcases so we can move somewhere else. Right now we're at a refugee camp: Dogster Friends with lots of our pals. It's fun ovfur there! We're learning our way around and even making new pals!
Today was sunny and dry again, the way it's been almost evfurry day since Howloween or something. We're not doing winter here this year. That means no splash-walks and towel-offs, which is fine with me!
Mommy let the sucky monster out of its closet today. I used to run upstairs as soon as I saw it, but Winkie just stays put and ignores it. I had to show him I'm as big a man-dog as he is! So now, I just try to stay on the other side of whatevfur room it's chasing mommy in. But today, befure it started roaring, my old friend Susan came to visit! She used to stay here with me whenevfur mommy and daddy went out, befure I was a Big Boy. I LOVE her!! I got lots of pets and lovin' while she and mommy went yakyakyak.
After she left, and after the sucky monster was done chasing mommy around and back in its lair, we went fur a walk. We didn't go far, because Winkie had to stop all the time and eat grass. He has days like that. Then we came back and mommy had her lunch and we all went to sleep!
