Arrival Story:
Last summer, a stray with three tiny kittens crawled out from under the shed. I put out some food and watched from a distance. I noticed that one of the kittens wasn't getting much of the food, so I found a way to get more food to him. Eventually I was able to get him to come up and eat out of my hand... When the rest of his family moved on, he decided to homestead next to the back steps. In the morning, he was there. When I got home late, he was there. Middle of the night, he was there. In a light rain, he would still sit there, rolled up and exposed, water running off his coat. In a downpour, he would move a few feet away to the shelter of a thick bush. Often he would stand on his hind legs looking in the back door window. With Yogi's health, I was reluctant to bring another cat into the house, but this little kitten wanted to be here and wasn't giving up. After a few visits to the vet's, I acclimated him into our home.

Bio:
He's been inside for less than a year and it's fun to watch the changes. For the first few months, his tummy was tight, just one thin wafer away from exploding. If I gave someone a treat before him, he would run over and try to grab it. After a while he would wait about 30 seconds for his treat before running after someone else's. Now at treat time, he often runs to his special spot and waits. His early locations for naps were more protective - corners with his eyes always facing outward. Now, he'll flop down in the middle of the floor or doorway. Unfortunately, he still likes to wake up at dawn, bounce across the bed and go into great detail telling me how hungry he is.
