Arrival Story: Sofie was our first adoption from Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit rescue organization. My husband and I were shopping at our local Pet Club store on Saturday, October 2nd, 2004, and every Saturday there is a pet adoption fair sponsored by Safe Haven. While we were watching them get set up, I spotted a sweet little kitty face peering from her cage in the very back of the room. Once they were ready to let people in, I went straight to "Lizzie's" cage. Diane, her foster mom and rescuer, told us that Sofie was rescued along with her brother Smitty and sister Midgie on June 29th, 2004, from someone's front yard. The homeowners wouldn't feed them because they wanted them to leave the property. We took turns holding Sofie all wrapped up in a small blanket and decided to adopt her. Diane brought her to our home a few days later. I purchased a pink bed just for her and she stayed there, looking nervous. Milo was the first of our pets to meet Sofie and he immediately started to groom her, which was what she really needed. Milo was like a nurturing father and she loved him the most.

Bio: Sofie was extremely shy towards humans, but with alot of patience, love, and understanding, she has slowly come out of her shell and we don't push her. Her meow is tiny and squeaky and she's petite for her age. Though she's still somewhat shy, she's a sweet little girl who has blossomed into a wonderful little lady and has learned that her mom and dad are good people that love her. Sofie has beautiful electric green eyes, but she's very camera-flash sensitive, so I'm not always able to capture their true beauty.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw that I was one of the diary picks today.
Thanks to all that stopped by yesterday and today to congratulate me!
Have a pawsome day---I have to go buy a lottery ticket now!

Wow, I'm a diary pick today, and so is Huey!
Last night, a very sneaky visitor was caught on our security camera that points to the front porch. This sends email alerts to my parents and Mom was using the computer in the kitchen at the back of the house.
When the video was viewed, my parents saw that the visitor had a tail with stripes on it. He ran up to our front porch which was lit, maybe grabbed something and hurried away. It was not a tabby cat but a raccoon!
He probably thought about ringing the doorbell until he saw the sign that said, "We Do Not Open the Door for Strangers", which we put up because of all the solicitors we had been getting.
It was pretty funny, and if Huey wasn't sleeping at Mom's feet at the time, he might have heard or smelled the visitor.
So, that was our excitement at the end of 2011.
Wishing all our friends the best in 2012!
Love, Sofie

Mom had to take a hanging light fixture in for repairs at a specialty shop which is near the Purrsnickety / Bow Wowzer pet boutique shop where we got our sculpted cat tree. She thought it would be a purrfect time to go to that store since she hadn't been there since we got our tree.
It was a weekday and she was on vacation (and still is) so she thought if she went early it wouldn't be so crowded. Wrong! It took her 45 minutes to find a parking spot and she almost gave up and came back home, until someone was pulling out of a spot on the street in front of her! Good thing the spot was at the front of the sidewalk because she doesn't think she can parallel park anymore. MOL! Even the parking lots were full and valet-parking was backed up!
After all that she said she had to get us something as well as Huey. Huey got a big birthday cookie for his birthday tomorrow, and we got a bag of freeze-dried lobster treats and a bag of freeze-dried chicken treats!
Yummy! I could eat an entire bag all by myself!
Love, Sofie
