Arrival Story:
Noah was a very sickly little kitty. He was at a shelter and all of his littermates had died. I took him in, after being told that he would never make it. He was 8 weeks old and about the size of a 2 week old kitten. He was vomiting blood and couldn't eat by himself because he was too weak. I took him to 3 different veterinarians in 2 days. Each one told me to just put him to sleep because he probably had feline distemper. His temperature was above 106 degrees and they told me he would be blind and brain dead. Yet, this kitten had such a will to live. I was given antibiotics and looked down upon because I wouldn't put him to sleep. I brought him home and for the next 3 and a half weeks I force fed him baby food and pedialyte every 2 hours. I brought him to work with me, I got up every 2 hours in the middle of the night to feed him. Finally, one day, nearly a month later, I put some canned food in a dish and gave it to him. He wouldn't eat it but I continued to try and put some food on his lips. He licked it off and began chowing down, meowing the whole time, looking at me as if saying "Oooo mom! This is good!"....and he never stopped eating! Now, at 3 years of age, he is a whopping 19 lbs and healthy as an ox!....Moral of the story? Follow your instinct and never give up on one that has the will to live!
