Arrival Story:
We had tenants on the 1st floor in a building my father owned in Lawrence, MA. They had a straggly black cat who had kittens right around my birthday. I had always wanted a black, fuzzy cat, so when I saw him with his littermates, I fell in love. He was just a little black ball of fuzzy fur. They called him, "Bear" but I named him Opium (Oppy for short).

Bio:
Oppy had a wonderful life. He moved from Lawrence to North Andover, then to Malden. Then, when I had to travel for work, he came with me and spent time in Florida, Virginia, Oklahoma, and then we moved together down in Houston, TX. When he was 8, we got a dog, Bella. At first he was ticked, but soon he grew to love her. By the time we moved back to Massachusetts, they were lying down side-by-side together on the couch. He was also starting to go outside with us and took walks down to the end of the street and back. Oppy got sick last year with a lump on his paw. Seeing as he had to be tranquilized in order to go to the vet's, and he was going on 12, I didn't want to subject him to what would probably end up killing him anyhow. In November of last year, he was showing signs that the paw was hurting him, so on Nov. 26th, after weeks of crying and procrastinating, I had Oppy put down. It was THE HARDEST thing I have ever done.
