Most cats here live in a safe, comfortable cat house with their blind brofurs and sisfurs. We even have a great outdoor area for play, enjoying the sunshine, and visiting with our volunteers and guests.

Arrival Story:
Below is the actual letter from her original owner that explains why she gave Belleza up. She had her for 8 years! "I am seeking a new home for my precious cat, Belleza. She is an AMAZING, wonderfully mild -mannered, special needs, eight year old cat. She is partially deaf and blind BUT can walk, eat, drink and go to the litter box on her own! She may need a bit of training until she learns the layout of her new home. I adopted her from a pet store, and her injuries are a result of a serious allergic reaction to anesthesia. It breaks my heart to part with her but I can no longer provide the care and comfort she deserves due to graduate school and finances. Belleza needs a home by March 1st! If you cannot offer a home, I welcome any referrals and suggestions! She may need a bit of training until she learns I welcome any referrals and suggestions! She may need a bit of training until she learns. She is not declawed. I am also willing to give new owner a automatic Littermaid, a month's worth of food and litter, and her three beds. If a shelter is a must, it must be a no-kill shelter." Belleza did not adjust well. She had been an only cat her whole life and suddently, she had to deal with living with other cats. She was not a happy camper, and she was confused about why her family gave her away . In her first owner's defense, she is sponsoring her. Belleza had such difficulty adjusting that she moved into the director's home where she didn't have to cope with as many other cats as in the cat house where she was living. She's a much happier kitty now! Belleza is a beautiful girl, and we hope she'll adjust soon.

Sanctuary:
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind. We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties. Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
