I live in a cat house with my blind brofurs and sisfurs. Our homes are safe and comfortable, and we even have an outdoor area where we can safely enjoy fresh air and sunshine. I'm a lucky kitty!

Arrival Story:
Here is the letter I got from her previous owner: "I rescued a cat thought to be blind, thinking I would just go to a humane society (We have three in our area), but they refused the cat, calling her unadoptable. She loves to purr, curl in bed with me, get lots of hugs and petting, play with our cats at high speed up and down stairs and halls, and gets around without any trouble. I do not want her killed, I want her with other cats and children and forever playtime! She is only about a year. I have too many cats already or I would keep her, and my kids are soon college-bound not school age. Can you please help?" She put Rayne on a plane from California and sent her to us. Rayne was deemed unadoptable because she was blind and because she was black. Black cats seldom find adoptive homes and are usually euthanized. She had no hope for any shelter out there to take her and not put her to sleep. So very sad because Rayne is an absolutely loving little girl who loves nothing more than to rub all over you or be in your lap.

Forums Motto:
Blind Cats are Cool!

Sanctuary:
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind. We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties. Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life. Please visit our website at www.blindcatrescue.com to find out more and learn how you can help.
