I live with my brofurs and sisfurs in a cat house at the Sanctuary. They are comfortable and safe and even have an outdoor area for us to play and enjoy being outside.

Our volunteers and sponsor are so special! The Sanctuary is completely staffed by volunteers, so we depend on the kindness of strangers. (Where have I heard that before?) Hooray for our volunteers and sponsors!!!!

Arrival Story:
This poor little baby has had a rough start for such a young life. She and her sister Natasha were found as strays with bad eye infections. The lady who found them was also a foster home for a local rescue. They helped her get the kittens fixed, etc., and she kept them for a while. This kind lady ended up getting ill, and she was committed to a long-term stay in a mental institution. Her soon to be ex-husband decided to put the house up for sale while she was gone. He called the rescue and told them they had 2 days to remove all the cats or he would dump them at the pound. There were 18 cats at immediate risk. The rescue did not have foster homes for 18 cats!! One of the rescue volunteers took all 18 to her house and set them up in crates in her garage and immediately went on the internet looking for some help. She asked us to take the two blind ones and a few days later, she drove them up from SC. Olivia is a sweet cat but a little skittish. She's certainly a beauty!

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind. We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties. Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
