Arrival Story: I am royalty, I am! My mommy likes to think she chose me when I was a little kittens, but really I choosed her! Simba and me, we're sisters, but we're really different. Simba, she's really smart, but me... I'se really beautiful. My Nanny thought I was the prettiest girl in the litter, and of course she was right. I don't like my Grandpa though. He always teases me, so I really really hates males of all kinds. When Grandpa comes to visit us, I always pees on his stuff. That should teach him! hehe! I hate my brother Beau, too, and I tell him so really loud all the time. He is a big stupid boy, and I hates him! I tried to push him outside one time and I thoughts I was finally rid of him but Mommy brought him back. Still plotting....
Bio: I love my Mommy lots an' lots, but that's all. I don't like other people very much. Mommy calls me her Princess and that's true. I am the ruler of our house and everyone knows it. Everyone but that stupid Beau. Mom says I should stop being such a Drama Queen. I think any kind of queens is good.
For all the kindness and caring, for all the gifts and messages and comments... Thank you all so much.
I'm so sorry it took a few days to say this. Here in the northeast we've had an earthquake, a hurricane, rain without end and now flash flooding. A tree fell on our wires and took out our internet connection.
Plus, losing two babies in less than six months has hit me pretty hard. But I am so very proud of Honeybear.
On her last night, I brought her into the bedroom with me so that she would know that I was with her. Little Cheveyo kept frequent checks on her and she passed away with him licking her face and her head. I'm sure that even though he is still a baby, he knew and wanted to comfort her. I was glad for that.
Even though she has been so fragile for such a while, and it was sort of expected, the actuality is painful. All of you, each one, are precious to us and we love you. Thank you for being here through everything -- good and bad.
Little Honeybear has gone to the Bridge. After five months of bravely hanging onto life, though blind and deaf and so very fragile, she died peacefully though the night last night. She had the heart of a lion.
These brave dear creatures are an inspiration.
Our hearts are broken...
" We take to our hearts those beings who are even shorter lived than we, knowing that we will suffer from their impermanence but learn from it how to savour what they give us---a brief, perfect glimpse into a heart that loves unconditionally "
Honeybear loves to curl up on the top of the hot water heater to sleep since it is warm. She usually walks across the back of the sink to get there.
Well, we had a bad accident a couple days ago. She fell down (head first) into the little triangle of space formed by the hot water heater, the wall and the sink. She is blind and I think she must have misjudged the distance.
Mommy was back in the bedroom on the computer and didn't know this had happened. Cassie kept coming to the door and meowing, but Mommy thought she just wanted to be fed (she ALWAYS wants food!) so she finished what she was doing before she went out to the kitchen to feed Cass. Now we know Cass was trying to tell Mommy about Honeybear.
It took Mommy over two hours to get Honeybear out because there is virtually NO room to reach between the wall and the hot water heater. Mommy was crying and praying and thinking she was going to have to call the fire department to tear out the hot water heater. But finally she managed to wedge her arm behind the heater and get Honeybear's tail and hind leg up enough that she could reach them by laying over the sink.
Honeybear wasn't happy about being hauled out by her tail and hind leg, but at least she was out. She wouldn't eat or drink the whole rest of the day. Mommy felt all over her for anything broken and, thankfully, didn't find anything. But HB is so fragile that this set her back a little for a couple days.
As of today, Honeybear is back to eating and drinking. She seems like in the long run she didn't suffer any lasting effects from the fall into the hole. She's still hanging in there. Mommy was a basket case, though. Needless to say, we've blocked that little space so that she won't fall down there again.
