They're Only Ours for a Little While
We humans are prone to chase rainbows,
always wanting that pot of gold.
But the wisest of us remember the joy
of just a small creature to hold.
Allow yourself to accept their great gift,
and know what devotion is worth.
If you've ever been loved by a dog or cat,
you're the richest person on earth.
But their lives are lived in miniature-
bright sun to palest moon.
They bless our days with innocence,
and faithfulness that's stilled too soon.
These precious lives are fragile,
as fleeting as a baby's smile.
So give them all the love you have.
They're only ours for a little while.
And in the lonely moments
when you pause to wonder why,
hold close those brightest shooting stars
that burn so briefly in our sky.
But then look deeper in your heart
to know all love must intertwine,
and when the night sky seems the darkest,
you'll see their light forever shine.
Still debating whether to adopt Baby Two Socks. His little Marmalade brother has a Mommy already. There is much tugging to and fro. Part of me feels like it is way too soon to even think of another baby. And Alex's mommy is right... it's been 18 years since we had a kitten in our family and we're wondering if we're up to it just now.
And since he's a little boy, we're wondering how it will work out with our Beau. We don't want to be drowning in pee pee with them marking territory. Beau is neutered but he and Honeybear have had episodes of territory marking.
The other part of me fell in love with this little baby the minute I saw him. Both his kitty mama and papa are real little lovey bugs, and his hoomans have 9 kids who will hold him and handle him and get him used to being with hoomans. The whole time I was there, his kitty mama purred and purred, so we think he's got good cuddle genes.
It is hard. It's only been a week since Simmy left. I suppose we have enough time to sort it all out, though. He has to stay with his kitty mama for 8 weeks.
