Arrival Story: Annadee is also a rescue from the Siamese Cat Rescue Center of Virginia. Hershey's page contains the first part of the story. I wanted two cats. The Director of the rescue said Annadee would get along well with Hershey, and I loved her lynxy ears. She didn't say anything for the whole ride home. When I let her out of the carrier, she went right over to my mom and rolled over on her back. My mom fell in love with her instantly. Annadee became her buddy.
Bio: Annadee was a stray cat in Washington, DC when she was brought into rescue. A good samaritan took her in. Although she was going on vacation, she hired a pet sitter to take care of Annadee until she came back and was able to get Annadee into rescue.
Annadee didn't meow for a long time. She would only make these funny 'grrr' noises, so I called her Growly Girl. One day, she was sitting on the table as I put cream in my coffee. I gave her a small amount. She loved it and was waiting the next morning. This went on for a few days until one day, she got impatient. It was not coffee time yet, and I was working at the sink. In my small space, the table was right behind me, and all of a sudden, I heard a loud 'meow'. I turned around and there was Annadee! She was looking for her cream and obviously didn't want to wait. Since then she has learned that meowing will at the very least get her attention, but I still call her Growly Girl.
We're having some luck on Catster today. We have tried to come back so many times, but the site let's us down. Mommy keeps in touch with other mommies on FB, but she says FB gets really depressing sometimes.
We're all getting old here in this house. Rafiki left us last year. Hershey has lymphoma; Ben has kidney issues; I keep plucking my fur out. But Mommy takes care of us, and the season is here to sniff fresh air at the open windows or have a supervised excursion out onto the deck. :-)
We finally got more than a dusting of snow. There's maybe about 4" out there. Mom was supposed to work from home today, but because there's not much snow, she had to go in. Pooh. I thought we'd have quality time with her today.
It's been awfully cold too. I stay glued to my bed with the heater in it. If she doesn't see me, Mom still knows where I am. At night, I snuggle up close to her in bed. In the morning, I follow her into the bathroom and lie down in front of the little space heater she keeps in there.
I was starving this morning! There was no food at all overnight. There are usually a few crunch kibbles leftover, but last night, Mom picked up all the bowls. Geez, you would think we needed to be on a diet or something. So, this morning, Hershey and I expressed our displeasure to Mom while she got our food ready. We went downstairs per usual, but Mom didn't bring our food down! What was the matter with her? Couldn't she hear? Was she still asleep? Who knows? So, she's goes back upstairs for way too long, and when she comes back down, I am sure she has our breakfast. Instead of setting it down for us, she puts it up too high; then she picks me up and stuffs me in the carrier! Oh no! I know things would be going down hill. I saw her give Hershey his breakfast, but I was whisked off to the vet. So now, here I sit in a cage. They were messing around in my mouth. I think they pulled that ouchy tooth. They were messing around in my ear too. I have those little blue cysts in my right ear. Where's Mommy? I wanna go home!
