Arrival Story:
We went out to see a movie, but nothing interesting was playing so we stopped by the local Bahama Breeze for drinks and some food. A small back and white kitten was running up on the deck area where we were eating, grabbing shrimp shells and other garbage from the cart of dirty plates being cleared. I told my server that I wanted to catch that kitten...she told the manager who brought a plate of food and came outside to help. I stood quietly outside the opening under the deck where the kitten would run to when he had a shrimp tail. Teensie peeked out, saw the plate of food, and hesitantly headed for it. I swooped from above and grabbed the scruff of his neck, but *just* missed the exact spot and he sunk his teeth into the skin at the base of my finger, increasing his bite intensity while screaming in panic (attracting the attention of astonished diners.) He bit so hard that blood was running down my arm, the manager was screaming "Drop it! drop it!" but I held on until my partner in crime took him from me and I was brought a box that we dropped him into. The manager said "Congratulations--you've got yourself a kitten" but he didn't say it like I should be happy about it. My friend Stacy came over to meet the new arrival who was by then spitting and growling in the bathroom; she told him "Cat, this is the luckiest day of your life." At the time, we thought it was a little girl and were calling "her" Cleo and nicknamed Teensie due to her diminutive size. When the vet told us he was actually a boy, we had no name for him. I wanted to call him Minnaloushe but the name never caught on and we just kept calling him Teensie. He went from wild to tame in less than three days with lots of love and food--by the third day he purred and let me pet him. He is very affectionate now and meows for attention and treats, but he still gets a little bit nervous if I pick him up while standing, I guess due to our bad start.
