Dogs! Dogs are not our friends, in Maggie's opinion.
Like all our kitties, survival is Maggie's specialty!
Maggie has had a rough life. Her first owner died, and the daughter dumped her at the Humane Society.
At the HS she came down with a very bad upper respiratory and eye infection. They did not treat her until she became very ill. Then they used the wrong kind of eye medicine in her eyes, which caused her eyes to burst. They were going to put her down at this point.
A volunteer (who also had a small rescue) observed all that had happened with her. She stopped them from killing Maggie, telling them that after they (HS) paid to have Maggie’s eyes removed, she would take her.
The rescue found a home for her. Her new owner was also the owner of Angel. When he was being evicted from his home for having too many pets, he had to return Angel & Maggie to the rescue. The rescue asked if we take Maggie and Angel Of course, we said yes.
Maggie had a very hard time adjusting when she got here. She does not like other cats, does not like dogs, and she would swat first and ask questions later. Who could blame her? After all, in one short year she lost her lifetime home, got stuck in a shelter, lost her sight, and lost her second home and now had to adjust to a third home.
But there's good news! Maggie is doing much better! She loves to be petted and is quite the talker.

Torties are Tops!
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
Please visit our website at www.blindcatrescue.com to find out more and learn how you can help.
