"This was beautiful Sylvester, one of our furriends at BCR. He went to the Bridge so tragically in August, 2009 when a snake crawled into our cat room and bit him. Sylvester, you were so brave and sweet. We miss you so!"
"I now live in a lovely new cat house in one of the four separate rooms. We have climbers, beds, fans for warm weather, and heat for the winter. I'm SUCH a lucky blind kitty!"

indoors Arrival Story: Little Greta owes her very life to a volunteer with the SC Horrey County HS (A kill shelter). She took Greta home to foster her until she could find a home for her. Greta was born blind and was also very thin and sick with an upper respiratory infection. This adorable baby was at the top of the kill list.
Vicki contacted us and asked us to take her. What could we say? :)
We got Greta fixed and had her underdeveloped eyes removed. They were giving her a lot of problems and since she could not see, it was not going to make any difference to her.
Greta is the sweetest lover-cat you will ever meet. She just loves to cuddle and stroke your face. Lives Remaining: 6 of 9 Forums Motto: Purrs to the World! The Groups I'm In: !!!!!!!Rescued Pets!!!!!!!!!, Calico & Tortie Darlings, Friends of the Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, Sweet Face, We're One-derful! Sanctuary: Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
