Attention and love!
Surviving when others might fail. He's a fighter!
Mike is a very sweet fellow. He went blind because he developed diabetes. After he was diagnosed his owner did not treat it with insulin. She said she was unable to afford the treatment. She had had him for almost three years without treating it!!
Insulin is not cheap; it runs approx $100 per month. To add to his original problem, he is hypothyroid, had poor pulses in his hind feet, muscle atrophy in his hind legs and possibly has Cushing Disease.
We are treating the diabetes first. As soon as we get his insulin/blood sugar levels steady, we will deal with the other things.
It is obvious that his first family loved him. He is a super friendly fellow who loves to be pet, and he takes his two daily insulin like a trooper without a complaint.
Cats like Mike are the reason Blind Cat Rescue is here. His owner discovered after many phone calls that he has many strikes against him, we were the only place willing to take him.
1. Black (99% of adult black cats do not make it out of shelters alive.)
2. Adult (It is kitten season)
3. Blind (not perfect)
When you support Blind Cat Rescue, you help us help cats like Mike. They deserve a chance at life, too, but there are few places that will help them.
Mikes' medical bills run us approx. $200 per month. Won't you please also sponsor him?

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
