Arrival Story:
Teddi is another one that owes her life to a village. She was found lying near death in a box on the side of a highway rampway in LA. Below is the information I received: "This is a bit long but I want you to know Teddi's story. Teddi is a precious two year old kitty that we found Saturday a week ago----lying in a box motionless. We thought she was dying, and she was pretty close to it. Blood was oozing from her nose, and her eyes were closed shut from caked blood. We thought she had been hit by a car and had head injuries. She was in horrible condition ! We rushed her to a Veterinary Hospital and after examination, we were told the kitty had severe herpes in the both eyes that had been left untreated from a URI. In addition, she was very dehydrated and emaciated, and so small that she looked like a four month old kitten, when actually, she is about eight years old. The vet said she may not survive the night, and if she did live, would need surgery in both eyes, and would be blind. Well, little Teddi has a strong will to live because she did survive. She did well on meds and IV's, and is now finally eating and drinking on her own. She had to have one eye removed and possibly faces having the other removed as well."

Bio:
Teddi ended up having to have both eyes removed and is now safe with us. She is a tiny little thing, We would love to know what awful monster did this to her! She is sweet but understandably very skittish. Our vet feels like she is probably around eight years old but she is the size of a six month old. I sure wish she could tell us her story!

Forums Motto:

Sanctuary:
Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind. We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties. Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life. Vote for Blind Cat Rescue!!

The blind cats are SO excited!! Our rescue has the chance to win $10,000.!!!! I don't know much about money, but the humans seem to think this is a LOT.

The best part is...our Catster furriends can help! And it's so easy!

All you have to do is visit the link below. Fill in a few fields of information, and viola! You've voted for Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary of North Carolina! You can even vote anonymously, if you prefer. (Whatever anonymously means...)

So please vote for us today. Tell your furriends and ask them to vote. We want to build a new cattery so we can save more blind cats. Wouldn't that be a wonderful way to start the New Year?

Here's the address: http://www.care2.com/animalsheltercontest/76194/?refer=30719 .15.1229633524.6461

(Catster Meowmy doesn't know how to do a link in my diary. Poor dumb Catster Meowmy!)

Thanks and a zillion purrs!

Teddi

My Wonderful Sponsor!!!!

At Blind Cat Rescue, we depend on our donors and sponsors for everything! Nobody who works there is paid - they're all volunteers. Without kind, caring, and generous folks who sponsor a cat at the rescue, we blind cats would be homeless once again.

Our Catster Meowmy volunteers to create and maintain our web pages and she sponsors two of us - Natasha and Mike. (She'd sponsor every cat here if she could afford it!!!!)

I have my own special sponsor! Baby's family found me on Catster and my story touched their loving hearts. Baby is Catster Cat 861737. By sponsoring me, they help the rescue provide me with shelter, food, vet care, any medicines I might need, and most of all, with a place I can live safely and be loved by our volunteers and caregivers. It makes me purr so loudly, knowing that a family so far away cares about me!!!

If you'd like to learn more, please visit the Rescue's website:
www.blindcatrescue.com

We'd love for you to sponsor one of us and become part of our special family!

Billions of headbonks, millions of sandpaper kisses, and a ton of purrs to Baby and her family!!!

Gratefully,
Teddi, the Tiny

I'm a Survivor!

Meow, everycat! My name's Teddi, and I share a story with many of you, I'm sure. I was abused by bad humans and nearly died. My rescuers found my lying bloody and motionless in a box beside an expressway in LA. I must have had kitty angels looking after me because these good humans rushed me to a Veterinary Hospital. I had severe herpes in the both eyes that had been left untreated from a URI. I was so dehydrated and emaciated, and so small, that I looked like a four month old kitten. I tried to tell them that I was really eight years old!!!!

The vet said I might not survive the night, and if I did live, I would need surgery in both eyes, and I would be blind.

I showed them! I was so determined to survive, and I did!

I did end up losing my eyes, but I've learned to live in darkness. I still haven't grown any bigger and look more like a big kitten than an adult cat.

The kind people who rescued me from certain death were unable to keep me themselves, and eventually, I found myself living at the Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary in North Carolina. This wonderful nonprofit group offers life, care, and love to cats who probably would face certain death otherwise, as we're not considered 'adoptable' by shelters.

So now you know who I am. I hope you'll visit my Catster page and the Blind Cat Rescue Site at www.blindcatrescue.com. Keep reading and you'll learn about a very special cat in my life - Baby!
