Arrival Story: Serena and her brother Jimmy again show sometimes it takes a village to help the little blind ones.
Serena & Jimmy come from a hoarding situation by a well meaning elderly gentleman. He was feeding all the local strays but did not get anyone fixed, and of course, they kept reproducing.
Someone finally got involved and put out a call for help and reached a wonderful rescuer that had no idea what she had really walked into. This gentleman probably had 50 or so cats and many litters of kittens at the time. Many of the kittens were sick.
Serena and her brother had their eyes bulging out of their heads and rupturing. Before she treated them, she wanted to make sure that they had some place safe to go. She asked us to take them. Once we agreed, she got their eyes removed, put them on needed medications, and found another wonderful volunteer to drive them down to us from the Washington, DC area.
They are the calmest little kittens I have ever met. They love to play with each other and are friendly, but so quiet and calm.
Had we not agreed to take them they would have been euthanized.

Lives Remaining: 7 of 9

Forums Motto: Cats Rule!

The Groups I'm In:
!!!!!!!Rescued Pets!!!!!!!!!, Friends of the Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary, We're One-derful!

Sanctuary: Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary was started to answer the need for a safe place for blind cats that were deemed unadoptable by regular shelters and were going to be killed just because they are blind.
We are a registered non profit with the state of North Carolina. There are no paid employees, only volunteers, so all contributions go directly to the kitties.
Rescue is about restoring hope and dignity to creatures for whom no one else cares about. We are but humble vessels to help these magnificent creatures find their forever homes. The responsibility is big but the returns on our emotional investment are greater. You cannot place a value on the look of contentment that comes when an animal is clean, exercised, warm, fed and safe for the first time in its life.
