Likes:
Agility training with bits of chicken, rubbing his chin/cheek with your little finger, backflipping for his feather toy, and getting groomed by Rosie.

Pet-Peeves:
People trying to pet him while he's walking past them, being picked up when he's not in the mood, and other forms of physical contact that he doesn't ask for.

Favorite Toy:
His fishing rod feather.

Favorite Nap Spot:
On the stationary bike- we covered the handle/monitor area with some soft towels and blankets, and he will spend hours up there.

Freshly roasted chicken (hot from the pan), beef, and CORE.

Skills:
I've been training him in agility since he was very young, and he can go through a course like a dog (but don't tell him that!) if I have some chicken handy.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
Quetzal was a nine week kitten when I first saw him. I had gone to a no-kill rescue organization called Forgotten Felines to look at three different cats, but when I saw Quetzal I absolutely fell in love. I ended up adopting only one of the three that I had planned, and adopted Quetzal along with him.

Bio:
When Quetzal was only 11 weeks old, he contracted a very severe case of giardia, an internal parasite. Because of it, he was basically starving for weeks while we tried to find a vet that had any useful advice -we went through three, before the lady we got three more of our cats from (also rescues) gave us some actual useful advice, and a temporary change in diet completely cured him. However, his lack of nutrition in his growing stages stunted his growth a bit, and now, at 8 1/2 months old, he is a small, lean 7 pounds. He's not expected to mature over eight. Quetzal is my world. He is the most intelligent cat I've ever met, he's incredibly trainable, and a strong one person cat. He is an independant cat, but never wastes an oppurtunity to rub against my leg or give me a quick purr.

PURRRRRROBAMA!

November 5th 2008 10:28 am   [link to this entry]

YAYYYYYY, CONGRATULATIONS OBAMA!!! Meowma, me, and the rest of the furmily watched the election for hours yesterday, and Meowma kept cursing whenever McCain With No Brain and Failin Palin went up in electoral votes, and cheering (way too loudly for my taste- I retreated to under the couch several times) when Obama went up! She was crying from happiness during the acceptance speech, and when they announced that he had won at 8:00, she picked up me and Kashmir and gave us a big hug, she was so happy.

Me, I'm happy, but being a cat I'm not as into politics as Meowma.. Although I'm sure that wolf-killer didn't get near office- the thought of her being a 72 year old heartbeat away from president scares the fur off of me!

Purrs and headbonks to all my fellow Obama fans;
Sincerely Quetzal.

And the winner is...

October 30th 2008 10:28 am   [link to this entry]

Well, I don't know who the winner is yet. But guess what- I'm going to be in a cat show! Meowma entered me in the Household Pet class in a cat show in mid December, and I'm scared but excited! She says that she's always wanted to show cats, and that I'll really wow the judges with my gorgeous markings and awesome personality.

I don't know about the personality part.. the thought of some strange person picking me up and touching me doesn't sound all that much fun, but Meowma says that they sometimes let you play with a feather, and I'm good at that! And who knows, maybe I'll like the judge.. if they smell like chicken!

Purrs, Quetzal!

The wheels on the bus..

October 8th 2008 10:50 am   [link to this entry]

Today, Meowma took me on the bus, wearing my harness! We've always gone for walks, but today she took me on the bus with her to go to the pet supply store to get some more food (and a special toy for meeee). It was weird! There were so many people, and so much noise, and everyone kept gasping and laughing when they saw me sitting on Meowma's lap with perfect manners. I don't get what the big deal was, did they expect me to yowl and cling to Meowma's shirt? Pf. I'm above such kittenish behavior.

A little girl asked her mother why that cat was pretending to be a dog.. the nerve! No dog could ride the bus with such poise and manners! I swished my tail at her when Meowma and I got off the bus, but I don't think she saw.

And as a side note, I gots a new feather toy! Weeeeeeeeee. It's a feather fishing rod that makes a wurrrrrring noise when you flick it. Today was a great day!

Purrs, Quetzal.
