Arrival Story: Back in 2005 and 2006, I house sat for a co-worker and his wife and they had 4 cats. They moved to a new house and had someone closer to them cat sit when they went on vacation. Whoever watched them didn't clean out the litter box so Sadie II and Munchie started retaliating by going to the bathroom everywhere except for in the litter box. So the owners started kicking them outside. They are moving back to Illinois soon and will be taking the 2 male cats with them but decided they aren't going to take Sadie II and Munchie with them. They couldn't find homes for them so they were either going to abandon them at the house or take them to the Humane Society and have them put to sleep. I didn't want 2 more cats but I couldn't allow them to suffer or be punished just because they were no longer wanted by their previous owners. So, they have a 2nd chance with me.
Bio: Munchie is the daughter of Sadie II and Bain (which is one of the males that the couple is keeping). She had a brother but he didn't survive. Munchie and Sadie II do not get along in my house. Something had to happen to them at their previous owner's house to cause such a rift. They hiss and growl at eachother everytime they see or smell eachother. Currently Munchie and Sadie II are living in my bathroom. They have free rein of the house but neither of them will come out of the bathroom. Munchie sleeps behind the door and Sadie II hangs out on the countertop. According to their previous owner, Sadie II is 7 and Munchie is 6. So I calculated their birthdate by going back 6 and 7 years from the day they arrived in my house. Munchie's new birthdate is 10 Jul 02.
UPDATE 8 July 2013: Munchie crossed the bridge today. She's been losing weight and wanting to me near me all the time. She even started jumping up on my shoulders when she had the chance. She was never like this until recently. She slept next to me the last 2 nights and where ever I went, she went too. Her eating and drinking slowed down and this morning she would check out the food and water bowls but she didn't touch them. I had to go to work. When I came home, Munchie was on the floor, dead. It looks like she collapsed and died where she lay. Might have been a heart attack. I always knew this day would come but you're never really ready. It breaks my heart that she died while I was at work but I also know she didn't want me to watch her take her last breath. I will always miss that little girl. She knows she was loved and her home was here with me. She was my baby for 2 days shy of 5 years and she died 2 days shy of her 11th birthday. I hope Munchie's crossing was peaceful and that she'll wait for me at the bridge until it's my turn to cross. I hope she'll be waiting for me along with all the others that have gone before her. God Speed Munchie! Rest in peace sweet girl! I will miss you forever! Until we meet again... I love you Munchie girl!!!
